MoP? Why not wizard npcs instead?

In my humble opinion, this would fit EQ better. Shoot me down if I am just weird and alone in this feeling. :p

There used to be translocators that would port you for PP. They were replaced by the old mansion of portals system that used runetokens, which was in turn replaced by the current Mansion of Portals.

lol i think he ment translocating wizards, think this was talked about before it kinda ruins the feel of the game

Stagecoaches and Translocators are oldschool.

The whole point is to have a means of fast travel for people who are willing to take the small risk associated with the MoP which at the same time not being completely instantaneous.
Why would we want something that fits EQ (in order to cover up the fact they can't fix boats) to be in SoD anyways for only that sake?

that. If you dont like the mop, you have the option of paying a wizard to TL you, but dont count on translocator NPCs ever returning

Let's turn MoP into translocators, but when you ask for a port the casting time is 5 minutes and has a 50% chance to be manaburn

Instead of manaburn, how about naming them "apprentice Translocators" and they have a chance of TLing you somewhere else than you want. You ask for Everfrost but get PoNightmare, for example.

I like the MoP system currently enforced. It does not take away the use of starter cities like PoK did and it is not a safe passage to where you want either. It is fantasy in the fact that the wizards found this diminsion that helps you travel but even they could not stablize the trip fully.

That would be a awesome idea. : ) I do like the MoP convenience versus risk penalties don't get me wrong. I just think it is a bit awkward feeling, nothing to do with wanting easier travel. I think it would have been a bit more immersive if they did have apprentice wizards that could manaburn you or translocate you to the incorrect place instead.

Thanks all for the feeback though. I understand the reasoning but dislike the feel of the place. Maybe if it was more .. "plane like" feeling ..if that makes any sense. /shrug

I like this too, then I wouldn't have to see the big whirlwinds that feel so weird. heh

This is one of those times.

Actually the MoP fits in with the whole Kaezulean story line. If I recall, Kaezul and his troops were using the MoP to move across our lands secretly and invade our towns. It was actually by us finding out that Kaezul was doing this that we had wizards that learned to get us in and out of the MoP.
So if you are new to the game or you didn't participate in the battles that the RP guild went through, you may not know of this information. But for me, being once a part of the RP team, I think it would be odd if the MoP suddenly disappeared. It would make me wonder what Kaezul was up to this time. So, whether or not I use the MoP is always a risk vs. reward decision, but I most certainly think that it should remain, whether I use it or not.

If they were to return i kinda like this idea it would almost FORCE people to work on there gate necklesses so they can try agian at the nearest Wizard TL (i do not however suggest somewere as bad as PoN

Seriously guys....MOP is fine. Ain't broke....don't fix it.

translocators would seriously suck.

A lot of the time I do a /who to find a druid or wiz before using the mop. Why? I'm Buffed and sometimes (depending where I'm going) the wiz/druid is faster. Plus it puts a few plat in their pockets.....or they are happy with an Raego instead!
