Monk avoidance penalty?

So I guess monks can go up to 24 stone before they start losing AC, but after being directed to this post:

Zhak Morris said:
Wiz has stated twice to me within recent months that the cap is 20.9. Each stone you're over after that you lose 10% of your avoidance boost from being a monk. So at 24.9 stones you'd effectively lose 40% of your avoidance.

... I was just wondering if anyone could confirm or elaborate upon this avoidance penalty? (Since this post is several months old, if I recall the date correctly)

PS - I know Zhak isn't a liar, I was just wondering if anyone had Wiz's scoop on the matter.... or could post a related link that I was unable to find. It makes me feel retarded to have never heard of the avoidance penalty (though I'm not the only monk - you know who you are!)

The avoidance is done server side, I know you do not lose AC until 24 stones, which is exactly what prompted me to ask Wiz the very question you're asking. You lose 10% of your avoidance for every stone above 20.

And on a second thought, this would probably be good information to put in the tome of knowledge, a lot of monks ask this question. Would be nice if there was an easily accessible post with this information.

SO i have been losing 40-50percent of my avoidance for just about 64 levels..

nice to know ...

Yeah, that's pretty blatently homosexual. If you lose avoidance at 21 +, make it either known, or make the AC drop.

That's pretty ridiculous.

lol i have 20 posts

Well doesn't that make me feel stupid for keeping my weight around 23-24 and thinking I was fine, no wonder I suck so much.... well, I suck regardless at my monk, but losing 30% of my avoidance doesn't help.

Thank you for your wealth of monk knowledge, Mr. Zhak.

Last I knew, it was perfectly well-known that the formular was (int)14+level/10, so I don't understand why you didn't know. :brow:

I suspect he means:
(int)(14+level/10)
in other words:
L 01 to 09: 14 stone limit
L 10 to 19: 15 stone limit
L 20 to 29: 16 stone limit
L 30 to 39: 17 stone limit
L 40 to 49: 18 stone limit
L 50 to 59: 19 stone limit
L 60 to 69: 20 stone limit
etc.

(int) in programer-ese means "rounded down".

Yes, the formula is indeed well known... every monk knows whereabouts his weight limit is, but I wasn't the only one who didn't know about the 10% avoidance penalty for every 1 stone after 20 or something. I'm not complaining or anything, I just didn't recall seeing the 10% avoidance penatly explicitly advertised anywhere. But hey, now I know! And so do a few other equally newbish 65 monks (yes you know who you are and you should feel stupid too =p)

I'm not complaining that it's there, I'm complaining that for the longest time, and I have been told from many old school monks, that it was 24 at 65. Why? Because you don't lose AC.

At level 10, you lose AC over 14 weight. So logic should stand that when you stop losing AC, you ALSO stop losing the avoidance bonus.

I have my equipment tailored to 24 weight, not 20. Rock on.

Korinth you better not be talking about me since I directed you towards Zhaks original post =(

I was struggling with keeping myself under the weight cap for the longest time, and I think I'm probably the only high end monk who doesn't struggle with weight issues, I'm currently at 15 stones. It is extremely difficult for a monk breaking in to the raid game and maintain under a 20 stone cap.

15? Wow I can only get 17, and thats with crappy one handers.
