Mob dropped spells

One thing about lvls 61-65 that I have a real issue with, is it seems the spells are mob dropped, Now i'm an active member of a raiding guild, so this won't effect me too horribly. But one of the coolest things i remember hearing when i first joined WR, was some GM saying in ooc, no spells except ancients are mobs drops, the rest are vendor sold. That just lit up my face for weeks, having played on live, and missing alot of key spells, as i wasn't in a raiding guild. Not only will raiding casters have to wait, hope for "normal" spell drops, any casual groupers, small group of friends will have a very small, if any, chance, to get these spells in any reasonable time frame. Talking among my guild last night, some people seemed this was a "good" thing, some, including myself, don't like the idea of it at all. Ancient spells are one thing, level spells quite another, and i see it affecting anyone who's not in one of the VERY few raiding guilds on this server. Just one fools opinion.

If it's similar to the way the ethereal parchments were, then it won't be so bad.

You could pick those up in just a normal exp group at that level.

We shall see though.

I think it is kind of ok the way it is now. As long as most of the mobs stay ONE GROUPABLE. I do not think you should need a 20 man raid group just to get non ancient spells. Now the mobs that I got my 2 spells off of, so far, werent anywhere near 1 groupable. Maybe prior to the recent patch they were but not now.

All (normal) 61-65 spells will drop from one-groupable mobs. Ancients and relics are the raid spells.

61-65 are quite different from 51-60, as it's something akin to prestige levels (very slow, hard to acquire the spells, etc), that's why we make a exception from the normal "no dropped spells".

Besides... it will incentivate economy and grouping. That of course if the scrolls are dropable.

;)

Just a quick update on the dropped spells situation, In the last week of playing(30+hours) mainly in Mielech's,Necropolis,Akheva, and Plane of air, i have seen maybe 10 spells drop, none of which were above lvl 62.
The only lvl 63 spell i've seen drop was from ToT, and have seen 0 lvl 64-65 spells, now i know these 61+ spells are prestige spells, and not intended to be avaliable to everyone right away, just wondering if the scarcity-lvl of spells was intended to be so harsh, or if something isn't working properly.

Okay, we started fighting today right after server came up, around 1:30 pm or so(CST) I think.

First we did POA for a few hours, zero spell drops, cleared the whole "beginning" area with the armors, killed the "named" there several times, no spells.

We then went to DN and farmed Shade dragons/Bone Dragons for a few hours, again zero spells.

Then we went to Mielechs adn killed Shrooms, Undead Frogs, Gel Cubes until 11pm. We got one spell here, a 61 druid spell.

Okay, saturday I played for 8 hours or so, zero spell drops. Today I play for 9 hours, and get 1 spell drop. This in a group of 6 the whole time, and the spell was lvl 61. SURELY this cant be what was planned for the difficulty of the spells? The spell drop rate seems MUCH lower than it was the first few days after the patch, so much so that we have almost given up on spell drops heh. We tried moving around, doing POA, DN, and Mielechs, but all of them seemed to have effectively zero drop rates. Could this please be looked into? We have yet to see any 63+ spell drop off anything since the patch, cept for the 63 one that dropped in POT(and thats not really onegrouable outside of Coltaine or Rarok and clerics outside of group). You said in your post that all these would be onegroupable, but I dont see how, since it seems clear that the 63-65 spells arent dropping off anything but maybe boss mobs.

In the time it took me to level 60-65 powerleveling myself with my cleric, I've seen 8 spells drop.

Well, reading my previous post, I seem a bit bitter, but Melwins post I guess sums it up. To go from 60-65 and only see 8 spells, less than one for each class, seems way way lower than it should be.

The chance is completely random for mob drops. Melwin say 8 spells drops from 60-65, but in 30% of 61, I've seen 4 spells drop in Akheva at the DIznacahs. I think you are right having a big run of bad luck. :(

What mobs were you killing for 17 hours that you only saw 1 spell?

POA armored knights(and we killed the named rare 4 times here), Mielechs Shrooms/Undead frogloks/Gel Cubes/Exbox, and DN Shades, Bone Dragons, Faded Shadow Dragon(think thats the name of the harder one), Bloodstalker, and the cleric rats near Parc.

I know its random, but surely with the amount of mobs that we dropped, the rate has to be pretty low for us to have that kind of run.

He said which ones.

The breakdown from my experiences so far go as such.....

SEBILIS Undead Froglocks and Cubes: About 5-6 hours of killing in Seb basement nets USUALLY 2 spells if we are lucky. Perhaps 1 every 25-30 kills.

AKHEVA Lost and Hungering Wraiths drop them rarely maybe 1 spell drop in 20 kills. Driznahcah Thralls drop them more frequently maybe 1 spell every 10-15 kills.

TORMENT/TARHYL drop pretty often. Maybe 1 every 5 kills or so. Hard to do because a raid force is required for both. Torhogs and Wareden of flames are th eonly things I have seen that drop 63+ spells and they definitely are not single groupable.

PLANE OF AIR: Spent roughly 12 hours in there the last 3 days and saw 1 spell drop off a Armored wind spirit (cleared the whole zone in cycle repeatedly), none off Tshrilakah, none off the 3 crystal spiders we killed, and nothing off the magic immune fish we killed.

Some spell drops will be adjusted. Silent Lands is a place you can go for 63-64 spells, that isn't a plane. :p
