Change to Marzin's Mark?

My cleric is fairly recently 60, and I managed to work up the money for Blessing of Aegolism. While looking in the spell vendor, I ran across Marzin's Mark. I assumed that since it was the same level as Aego it probably was the only symbol to stack with Aego, and so asked in guild if it stacked with WoN/Focus lines. Someone in DB clarified it for me by explaining that it did not stack with Aego, but if I couldnt work up the money to buy Blessing of Aegolism, I could very cheaply buy this spell, and use it along with Aegis (lvl57 ac) and Heroic Bond (lvl52 type 1 HP/AC), all of which are group spells.

So to buff a full group with HB+Aegis+Marzin's Mark:
1595 mana
17 seconds casting time
3 peridots
3 buff slots on my group members
=1125 HP/180 AC

vs

single target Aego:
3000 mana
39 seconds
3 peridots
1 buff slot
=1150 HP/200 AC

I think if I had noticed Marzin's Mark earlier, I still would have used the single target Aego as I have been doing while working up money for Blessing of Aegolism. Buff slots are a hot commodity, and groups are often willing to pitch in to make sure peridots are available, if cost is the issue. In the thread I mentioned above, there were some interesting ideas on how to make this spell into something more useful. From my perspective, the problem is that clerics don't get to make use of the group symbol until a time when it really isn't worth it to use. I have what I think is an easy fix to that problem.

I suggest:

1. Remove this spell entirely. If a new spell if thought up in time, great, implement it then, but avoid confusion now, and let Clerics have their group symbol.

2. Change the spell Symbol of Marzin (level 54) to a group version of what it already is, so a Cleric still gets the group symbol, but at a level when it is useful. Raise the mana cost to about 450-500, and have it use 3 reagents until such time as a decision on the reagent revamp is made.

I realize this would give Paladins the added bonus of having a group targetable symbol at 63, the level before they get the group targetable Heroic Bond (type 1). With the added mana cost and reagent consumption, and the fact that symbol doesnt stack with Aego, Paladins would still find this to be highly situational, and so I think it would cause little harm.

I also realize this does not make the spell more useful, rather I wanted to address the issue of Clerics not getting (worthwhile) group symbol, a feature someone obviously intended at one point for clerics to have and make use of.

Yeah I never really got this either, also when looking at the two spells in the parser (aego and marzin's) it even looks like they should stack but I chalk that up to an evil parsing lie.

The reason these two don't stack is because of the first slot in Aego prevents stacking (forcing it to not stack with any spell with a third slot containing a change to max hit points.)

Basically, the advantage with Blessing of Aegolism is you save two buff slots, double(ish) duration and a very very small increase to potency (like 6 actual AC and 25 HP) by spending the extra money on Blessing of Aegolism. In the meantime, you can use the cheaper spells you should probably already have purchased before level 60...

Ok, actual side-by-sides with slots and such.

Blessing of Aegolism (Lvl 60)
Slot 1: Forced Spell Stacking Slot 3: Max Hit Points
Slot 2: Increase Max Hit Points by 1150
Slot 4: Increase Armor Class by 200
Slot 5: Increase Current Hit Points by 1150

----

Marzin's Mark (Lvl 60)
Slot 3: Increase Max Hit Points by 725
Slot 4: Increase Current Hit Points by 725

Aegis (Lvl 57)
Slot 4: Increase Armor Class by 115

Heroic Bond (Lvl 52)
Slot 1: Increase Armor Class by 65
Slot 2: Increase Max Hit Points by 400
Slot 3: Increase Current Hit Points by 400

Oh I definitely did not mean to say I think they should stack, just that the parser I was using didn't seem to give a reason why they weren't. I would like to see something useful done with this though since marzin's takes peridots as well making it fairly pointless when you get it.

I know Gerick doll, which is why I posted the wikiparses - the old parser can't handle screech like I can ;P

Anyway, back to the OP, I don't really see why this spell is so 'confusing' that it would be removed though. Its basically providing a cheaper/ghetto alternative to BoA (in combination with the other two spells). With Aegolism providing a single target equiv, I can see the argument that its pretty unnecessary though. Instead of fiddling with Symbol of Marzin it'd make more sense to me to move Marzin's Mark to a level 57-59 req. with a slightly reduced potency. Or just reduce the reagent requirement.
