Make Diseased People Killable in Towns

So, the introduction of the contagious disease code has definitely added an interesting--if not entirely pleasant--aspect to visiting the bank, but people who unknowingly or, even worse, intentionally just sit around in banks to infect other people need to have some reason to not want to do this.

Why not make diseased individuals (visible diseases in /cm stats) killable in towns, as if they were pvp-flagged? It makes sense that guards and other protectors would not be willing to let plaguebearers just stroll around town infecting everyone, and with the recent addition of the dark rot, the motivation to kill or be killed seems all the stronger.

Making people KOS to guards seems a little extreme, but allowing players to kill indiscriminate people who are just mindlessly infecting others would be a good deterrent. Level restrictions might be a reasonable addition to this, as well.

This may be not be the most elegant way to deal with the diseased but, short of constructing leper camps, it seems the only reasonable way of deterring people from wanting to screw everyone else over.

I've been told by a reliable source that guards might soon be starting to escort people out of the city to healers outside the walls if they are showing signs of disease.

This wouldnt include Dark Rot would it? Since there is no way currently to cure it and only if the healer has potions available can you even prevent the spread. Seeing as how you have to be mid to high level to collect the items needed by the healer it would be unfair to the low levels to make it so they could not visit cities until the cure for the Rot is found or until the healers have potions in stock.
Unless you wanted to form a 'slum' area outside the cities that is completely riddled with diseases (you get infected every few seconds with dozens of diseases while in the area) to allow those with the Rot to do their banking, training, etc. Like I said the place would have to be so saturated with diseases that anyone not infected with the rot (or infected but wears protection) would not want to go in there because of the number of diseases they would get and the cost to cure them all over and over again. It would just have to be a place where you could go for a quick stop to the bank, visit a merchant and perhaps a trainer and then get out to visit the healer to get rid of your curable diseases.

...or the guards will only deal with contagious people meaning those with dark rot but aren't a threat to anyone will be ok.

That would be fine, but again it runs into the problem of the only way to stop the spread is to get a potion that is not always available and lower levels have to rely on higher levels to provide.

Would it be possible to do something like they had in live around the 6th year with the task masters? They would hand out tasks (quests) for your level but if you were too high level for the task they wouldnt give it to you. If this is possible you could have a different set of items to get for each set of levels (1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc).
These type of quest givers could be good even beyond this event where they could create some interesting quests for all level ranges that go beyond the "Go kill this rat and bring me its tail" But again I dont know the limitations of the client, but they seem to be able to do a lot of things that even in live they thought not possible so never know. :)

So in a nutshell, what assistant samantha does in athica?

Oh ok she hands out tasks to people depending on their level? So if we could so something like that then it would be easier to contain the spread of the rot since more people would be able to get potions.

I kinda like the idea of no diseases (or at least Dark Rot) being able to be spread in Athica. The heart of the city managed to clear the mist, right? Perhaps it could put diseases in stasis within its sphere of influence (the 2 city zones) so that they cannot be transmitted. This would also help the problem of uninfected people risking infection when trying to give the components to the healer there to keep the disease contained.

Everyone who has dark rot should be perma flagged pvp and banned if bitch/moan about it on forums or /ooc.

YEA!

Wich would make Athica even more clustered that it can be...

Maybe. Judging by how many people are already infected/contained, there wouldn't be a big advantage there over Newport for most. And if the bank's too crowded, well, there's a portal right over there...pick your underused town to bank at if under 20, and use your housekey if 20 or higher.
