Main Quest Booboo

I gave Heartland Dirt to the Behemoth but left my Codex in the bank. Now hail, saying the phrase, and giving the Codex to him do no good. Trader Valner doesn't give me an option to talk to the great Dryad again. I can't find anything in Wiki to help; any suggestions?

I had trouble as a halfling doing this quest. The behemoth would not respond to the command phrase after I turned in the dirt. I ended up levitating myself a little out of the water, and then it worked just fine.

I wanted to pass this along, in case you have a short race character.

Finally had a petition answerd and it might have been because I am a Gnome, GM said short races have problems. Anyway, finally got it. Thanks all.
 
What if you MQ aug is not in your posession and you don't know why. Do you have to start the whole quest over? Or is there a way to retrieve it back?
