Mage pet crits

Ok elemental mastery allows your mage pet to crit if you have the AA for it. The only pet I have seen crit is fire, water also has a DD component yet it never crits. Flaw intended or no?

If I remember right, the water pet doesnt crit because the dd is really more like a DoT. And if my thinking is correct, only necros can crit their DoTs (though wasn't the relic pet's nuke also a DoT that got fixed to crit?). If you have ever been hit by a water elemental, you'll see the effect on your buff box (it's a slow debuff).

63 water pet does 32 DD and slows.  No dot component that I know off, just slow.  I never use air =) (unless raid and interupts are needed) So have never seen the air pet crit.

The rule of thumb is: if a DD has a debuff component (like water pet has a slow, earth has a root) it can NOT crit. There are exceptions, but aren't there always.
