Mage Haste Spells Suggestion

Problem is, the pet dies so fast, and mages have no way of keeping them up.

I've rarely seen any pets die on raids. 98% of the time the healer in your group has mana to spare on your pet when your pet heal isn't up. Just ask for it.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet: If you're doing ANYTHING at the high-end, you should have 20m at BEST at the end of fights that are not below your tier, and mana is never "abundant" during raid encounters. Also, the Forsaken schtick of "well you're not a good player" does not apply here.

Clearly you have NEVER done anything in tower of tarhyl, because me playing rurho, that pet is dead to the world after about 3 AE's at the most. I spam the 64 heal whenever it pops (also sacrificing DPS in the process) and he still dies. As a healer, the pet becomes a manasink that the healer will eventually ignore because of the burden it puts on them and the raid. Healing my pet sacrifices a heal that the main tank or secondary tank could use.

Are you talking about 98% of the each second that passes by?

I mean then probability would show that your pet would die like at least 2 times in the frame of 100 seconds, that seems like a problem to me.

Phewwwwwy seriously though unless its a group heal thats keeping the pet up other heals are pretty much actually needed elsewhere unless you are doing back content. And TBH keeping the pet up with only group heals usually doesn't happen cause they eat grass for food, and like to die much quicker then pretty much even the worst of geared characters.

Yes you're right, my experience in raiding is oh so limited. I've never had to deal with AE damage, or pets, or healing or anything. And even on first time fights I'm always at 10% mana at the end. Oh man, tough.

I won't even bother with you're silly "20m at BEST" comment, because it's just not true. And call it what you will, last time I checked Forsakens pets are alive at the end of fights. Time pet heals and group heals right, and the pets shouldn't die.

Oh goodie, My turn to chip in.. From a healer stand point. I see plenty of pets die on raids and hear the complaints from our mage daily on raids. Point in case is, mage pets as well as bst pets just don't have the hp / resists to hold up in the high end tier. iI'm not even on the same tier as Steel, Ruin, and Forsaken (In that order), but I know in Valorb, I've seen my fair share of pets getting raped and I just don't have the spare mana to throw them the heals nor the time. Occasionally I may do a group heal which will keep the pets up. But I won't go out of my way to heal the pets. I think allowing pets to share the resists of their owners may help as well as decreasing the heal cast time / cooldown. Another option instead of just giving mages the share resists with master. Perhaps make it a class aa for all pet classes.

Its just not true? Well from our experience it is true. Most mages on this server cry over the DPS they put out. I really feel that mages DPS is right in line with other classes.

The real problem lies with the mages ability to keep the pet up on their own. Back when the pet heals were all put on the same recast times I thought it made sense and should stay this way. But the nerf to the heals recast was a little to crazy. The spell only heals for 1215, and its rare a mage will have healing inc. Beastlords get Sha's Mending, this 64 pet heal has half the recast of the mages heal, and also heals for 1475. Unless mages are going to get Healing AAs, then there needs to be a change to the current recast.

Most cases that a mage pet dies on a raid is to an AE. And for a mage that means 100 or so DPS is being lost because there is no way they can keep it up. If the pet shared your resists that would solve that problem. This could be added as an AA, or even a tome. A tome could be a great idea, seeing the problem lies in the higher end game then the lower end, the requirements to start the tome are alot higher then that of a class AAs. If this is somehow over powered please explain.

I for one really like the mage class, but I quit playing Rurho when the pet managment became a pain in the ass. So much of my mana was used up by recasting new pets and buffing them. Maybe I am just a bad player, and maybe steel has bad healers, but this is my experience with the mage pets.

How did I know you were going to resort to personal attacks? Debunk the person and you debunk his argument, right? You're full of shit and you know it Jose. The fact is, Forsaken is so much better than any other guild because their pets stay up, right?

I'd like to point out that unless you're spamming the shit out of group heals and even with a dedicated healer, your pet will still die on AE fights during raids. The final encounter in Tower of Tarhyl? Good luck keeping your pet up past 1 AE even with a healer. Beastlords have a dedicated pet heal (Sha's Mending) that heals the pet around 40%, and then they have targetable heals that they throw on their pets after the fact.

Necromancers have a relic tap that they use to keep their pets up with good efficiency. Mages have neither. We have ONE heal for about 1300 (give or take) that refreshes ever 30 seconds. Considering the Relic pet's HP which is a little above 9200, that's about 11% on average. So you're saying that it's completely player error that's killing pets on raids? Forsaken must have some skilled players then, if every pet is still standing at the end of an AE fight that's past Stormkeep.

I'm always up for debate, but when all you do is throw useless bullshit out for your argument, then it's like talking to a chimpanzee. Then when you're disproven, you resort to the Forsaken mindset of "well you're a bad player, and forsaken does this therefore we're better than you and this doesn't need to be changed." Stop doing it and include real facts next time, okay? Thanks.

This thread needs to stay on track, I really would like to hear from other mages and get some of their ideas. I for one have wanted to see mage pet problems fixed for a long time. Every mage thread becomes troll city, if you have nothing good to add stay out!

I pretty much agree with Rurho here, I don't think there's an incredible urgency to get pet worn haste working (though it would be very nice), but pet-management definitely needs a look at.

From my experience, certainly in ValorB and in some IP/Thaz encounters, your pet barely stands a chance, it needs to be recalled & held back just to stay alive (which I prefer to do than letting it just wipe out & lose buffs).

If there was a way of sharing resists with the mage that would go a long way to fixing this problem & oh yes, please lower the recast on the heal & add some more HI items with mage on it!! :D

Yeah I think what Jose was trying to say , the sissy way. But yeah it keeps your pet alive, no other choice.
Don't tell me about healers can time group heals etc, if the pet is meleeing the group heal might not even hit it. There was just a point made about mage pets management, eat it. But it's all definitely off topic :/
I'm trusting the staff on releasing working pet hastes & stuff !

Wow. In any case, the original post was in dealing with pets haste issue. All of the other stuff does matter, but let's try one problem at a time.

I am going to start a separate post for the issues I brought up.
