Low level leveling is hard.

If you want to talk about difficult games, play EQ live with the old client with no help.
I spent 3 hours of my first night playing looking under kelethin for my level 3 body and never found it, therefore all my noob armor was lost forever.

SoD helps new players immensely without laying everything out for them on a silver platter.

as a "new" player (played EQ live from 2000-2006) the low level zones like greenmist jungle, etc remind me a lot of EQ low levels in 2000...personally i like it. i had an army of alts on live simply because of the fun in the low levels. on live once you get to the high-end game unless you are a hard-core player and have time to wait on raids, etc. you were sitting more than playing. so...i'll be around for a while ;)

Just my 2 cp on the subject being "fairly" new to SoD myself. First off, I do have to tell all of you that have not played live in awhile that leveling low level toons is in no way faster here than it is on live. They have dramatically changed the exp available at low levels and adjusted content to where you can easily level naked. Level 10 on live can now be achieved in roughly 2 hours for the average user.

Now that being said I am not looking for that kind of adjustment here. I think what they have done on live is ridiculous. The low levels should be enjoyed. They are where you truly learn how to play your character, and can be a great deal of fun. The exp debt at low levels can get a little frustrating. Especially to anyone who is truly new and does not understand how to play. Reverting to a system where you make lvl 6- 10 without a debt might be a good idea. Honestly the exp rate is fine, if it were faster you wouldn't gain skills as fast as you level.

One thing that might deserve a little attention, and I think they have been working on, is a few more gearing type quests for lowbies. Low lvl quests can be a great way for newbies to stay entertained and improve their character in between groups. Overall, I love the game, and think it has been handled exceptionally well :)

Agreed, low levels arent something you should speed though. Its bad enough we have half the 65's on the server not knowing how to play their char, we dont need that number getting any bigger. If anything, lvling lower lvls should be a bit slower. make the mobs a tad easier, but less xp. so they are forced to learn. nothing makes you learn what not to do quicker than screwing up so bad ya die.

people who don't know how to play by 65 wouldn't be any better for having spent more hours autoattacking snakes and skunks at level 6. You just have to make a list of their names in /note and move on

i see your point, and tbh you're probably right. I guess what i really should have said was longer lower lvling in addition to grouping more would make a better 65 in the end. soloing longer really wouldn't help much like you said.

LOL, thanks this did make me laugh, I have run across afew people that this probably applies to. Not so much here, but likely a valid point none the less!

Closure? Well it seems like:

(1) It's not broken, so don't fix it.

(2) There are no proposed changes that would be an overall improvement to the game.

Since the advent of this thread ive taken a solo non twink non pl mage from 1-17 in short order around oggok, mines, doing newbie quests, etc, and have found nothing wrong with leveling at that stage. Increasing the experience gained at that level because someone says that "its hard" aint gonna happen on hearsay alone, because quite simply, things aren't changed that way. On top of that, there were almost always people around my level range in the areas i was, so forming a group wouldn't have been as hard as advertised. Too often people are disheartened that there arent a multitude of groups shouting for reinforcements, so they assume that theres no one at that level, and never think of the option to form their own group.

TLDR: Nothing broke, nothing changing

If you want to make the suggestion for "More quests" you will have to be slightly less vague, AND have an understanding of what quests ARE available before making that suggestion. Simply saying "MAKE MOR QUSTS FOR NOOBS" won't get anyone anywhere, because it is quite likely the full scope of what is available to you isnt known.

Not 2 mention starting the main quests. There are quite a few spots in it that net you 100k XP. I started mine on my secret project around lvl 19 - one turn in dinged me 3 times :psyduck:

It's easy. Very Easy. Nontwinked it is easy. Twinked you crush the content to a laughable extent.

Evidence: Group in the 30's in the mines in heartlands with no healers. Was a very successful group.

Also, see the imeriaz project. Aisling was a twink as well, but a halfassed one with 1 or two pieces of great gear, and a bunch of empty slots.

do some of the MQ. free exp without swinging a weapon. plus once you visit the 8 people. you get a 100000 exp reward

Dunno if i should add to this thread since its not entirly correct. but Ive been leveling a cleric shes now 30 but mid 28 in kaldim when i notice xp at the warriors guild seriously slow down and by half way though 29 i started getting OLD Zone Xp pent. and it got me thinking alot about how rotating a bonus xp to differnt zones like once a week/month, and let the wiki community keep track of where its at for that week/month (mostly people between 20-40)

Am aware theres already xp bonus setup for all zones for a limited time but like i said before mine wore out pretty quick

(note after typing this i dont think this is a valid idea, however i still think something needs to be done between the levels 25-40 )

What about a quest for all the no drop quest items that you pick up and dont know what they go to? so you just keep looting them for a few days till you look it up and are like OOO i cant do that quest and now u have whole bag of crap that you have to destory
