Looting outside of raids/groups

I seem to recall a few weeks or months ago that Wiz said the raid stalker problem had pretty much come to a halt and that he was thinking of making corpses lootable if you werent in the raid. Since then I havent seen any other talk of this, and Im wondering if its ever going to be implemented again (outside of raid looting) or if its intended to be kept the way it is now (only get looting rights if you are in the raid).

One suggestion that I have heard of which may be good, is to increase the raid size, and keep the engage cap at 18, so that you can have extra people in the raid incase things are rotting (which seems to be a problem with the 2.0 system and rare drops). Another suggestions would be to just return it the way it was before where anybody could loot the corpse regardless of if they were in the raid or not.

I know this was a pretty controversial issue before so I am looking to get some input and thoughts from the other players here. Thanks.

Or you could always have people sit out if they dont need loot from that boss to make room for people who do need loot from that boss.

I like the idea of raising the cap on raids while keeping the engage cap the same, I think this is the best way to go about it.  This way, some of the more common items with strict class restrictions wouldn't be so bad, and people who may miss out on raids consistently due to the 18 man cap can have a chance to catch up with their guild.  It would take out the possibility of someone following around guilds hoping to find rots, also (if that is what Wiz meant by raid stalkers).  Not to mention raid stalking for whatever reason is no longer allowed.

PS: I know Prison has a level requirement of 60 to enter, maybe if this change were to go in it would be a good idea to add a similar requirement to zones such as Sepulcher/CoD, Thaz, etc., or consider decreasing the 20 level difference to loot to something like 10 on select mobs.

It would be abused. everyone above the 18 cap would be a buff bot or a rez bot and "would be there for the extra loot."

What  :what:  The current looting system has nothing to do with the possibility of buffs bots/rez bots being used.  That is, nothing is keeping raids now from camping out buff bots/rez bots other than the possibility of being caught. With the cap in a raid raised, the same possibility would still be there.

Not to mention, they could be in the raid and be camped out.

yay, onos and I agree on something

If I remember correctly the whole point of the change in the first place was due to raid stalkers, and if this problem has stopped (according to Wiz) I dont see why it shouldn't be changed back or modified in some way to resemble its previous state.

forget messing with the raid size, just make it so characters can loot mobs outside the raids and enforce a no unwanted raid following rule

Why enforce a rule thats impossible to police to 100% efficiency when you can just raise the cap?

how is it not possible to enforce the rule when its pretty much a simple petition saying "dear gm's, soandso is following us and we want him to leave can you make this happen?"

also, there is a no following rule already in place and i havent heard one guild complain about people following their raids recently

It isn't guaranteed that the raid will notice someone following them, example could be in Prison if a guild is in IP and another is in OP, as long as the individual is keyed they could potentially run up and get to a corpse left by someone else.

Also, if a guild carelessly leaves a corpse with a long timer before leaving a zone, someone could easily get in without being in the zone at all during the raid.

I'm just saying that when deciding between an option that leaves possibility for error and one that doesnt, it makes a lot more sense to choose the latter of the two.

A thread where Zorlaft and Junius are right.

It's like a cool springchristmas breeze flowing through the boards or something....

if someone from a guild that was in op, ran into ip and looted some rot loot, it would not only be terribly obvious but it would be witnessed by 18 people. i mean you could just fomelo them, see the loot, and petition and they would be screwed, i dont think it would be a huge problem

you know either way would work just fine, it just comes down to do you want to have to deal with adding the extra people to the raid or not?

pfft selling combine gems, 1.5k each.

All jokes aside, as long as stupid stuff like this is punished or monitored there should be no reason why people cant loot outside of raids. Its always the few that ruin it for the many...

i like the idea of raising the raid cap but leaving the engage limit, would definitely allow the casuals / 2nd mains / alts to tag along and at least be eligible for the rots
