A new live progression server is opening on the 15th of this month, starting from original content and the expansions will be unlocked one by one. However, unlike the previous rendition of the progression servers, there is a minimum time of 3 months before kunark would be unlocked and a minimum of 2 months between each of the following expansions.

Players will need to meet certain criteria (I.E. kill certain raid bosses) in order for the option of unlocking the next expansion to become available. Weekly polls will be taken after the requirements for unlocking the next expansion are met, asking whether or not it should be released yet.

I love Shards of Dalaya but I thought some of you might like a change for a bit. Or hell, even something else to play during your non-raiding hours.

Personally I'd probably only play it up through velious, but at least that would be fun. The last time they had progression servers, they were packed---so I'm sure you will be able to find a lot of people to adventure with.

yeah its a live server, so unfortunately it comes with that unpleasant subscription fee-- but I figure it'll be worth the few months of play or so

also, sadly they removed gear staying with the corpse...so not 100% true to the original but its as close as we'll probably get again.
 
There are some things you might never want to get used to that were rampant originally.

So yeah. As long as the progression is not stupid-fast like the last servers, it might actually be decent !
 
Derp derp derp I'm gonna go on the game that this game is modded off of, from the company nice enough to let this game exist, and advertise it in ooc (aka cost them money).

Stral, mind you, that was in the trial zone, the "Mines of Gloomingdeep" or whatever it's called.
So I hadn't even begun paying the subscription fee before I got that OOC-announcement.

Dunno if that makes any difference, just felt I had to vent it.

I'll be honest, I just felt like giving them shit, and yea I figured as much. Its still a dumb move on their part regardless imo; just a general lack of thought about where they are and what they are doing. In any case it doesn't reflect badly on you in any way.

Prog server was pretty fun relative to standard live servers, but if anyone has never been on one, don't expect original eq. I played EQ at launch for the first couple years, then I tried the first progression back when it was launched, what five years ago or so? People were hitting 50 in days, if not hours. The exp farming zones were the only zones populated. I had rogue Epic 1 within a week or two and was late to the party on that. Most of my friends had already gotten theirs by then. And I was unguilded and was doing it with just random buddies.
