Loading The game NOT SoD

After navigating my way around a barage of problems I've run into yet one more. I tried to search for it but it's difficult to articulate. I think this may be an extremely easy fix and I'm just blind. Anyway...

This is a fresh install. I'm totally new to SoD.

I patch and everything goes through. I have windowed mode disabled. I directed to the correct /XXXX/thegame/thegame.exe (I think). However, when I click the "Start the game" button I don't open SoD. Instead I open up the game (live version).

To rephrase, I don't open an SoD login window. Instead, the game starts up as it would normally (i believe)... Please show me the dumb mistake I made so I can finally begin playing after 48 hours of work trying to make my dreams come true.
 
Just checked that file. It read as instructed... Any other pointers? Thanks for the assistance! :)

Yes, I am loading the patching and it is directed to the game if that answers your question... I'm not simply double clicking on "the game" icon
 
If the host file reads correct, and you are running through the patcher.. the only other thing i can think of that would make you connect to live is if you have two copies of EQ installed, and the path from eqw points to the wrong (unpatched) one.

Cuz if everything else is right, theres not much else that can be wrong. Unless im missing something blatant.
 
Can you elaborate? I did have the issue where I was trying to run through the wrong path. /thegame/thegame.exe rather than the proper path which is /thecompany/thegame/thegame.exe However, Now when I load the SoD patcher I click off windowed mode. Then I run the patcher. After it is finished it is now immediately booting up the game.

Previously, a different window would pop up where I had to locate the path to the game (described above).

Is this specific enough? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.
 
Okay, update. I run the patcher try to play SoD and I get to SoD Eula, then it loads up an older version of the game... looks like progress what now?
 
Bahahaha. Okay, well I don't know what the trick was. I repatched and i guess it works. I just made my first character to test. I've still got old models so I have to figure out how to change that over but I can get help on my own for that. Thank you so much for the assisstance Ikaa!!! :dance::dance::dance:
