Linksys Routers, WR, and routine LDs

There seems to be a connection between all items in the topic. After chatting with various guild members and some other players, I figured the one thing we all had in common was a router, and a linksys router at that.

So I took mine off, made a direct connection, and volia. No LDs. I have no idea what is doing this, as DCing seems to have no effect on it (which would make more sense).

Is anyone else seeing this? Try doing a direct connect and see if it gets rid of the problem. When I played WR last summer on a simple hub, I LD' maybe 95% less than I do now.

EQ uses a certain set of ports that LinkSys blocks. You need to do the Port Forwarding thing in your Router config. I'm not at home so I couldn't tell you which ports to do it to, but there should be a guide somewhere if you look for it. It was a big problem in EQLive about two years ago.

Hey, i looked at the set of fixes and i was wondering, woulnt it be a big security problem if you set all the ports it recommends open (something like 1500-6000) the only way i can think of this working is if i logged into my router when i was going to play eq and turned the port forwarding on and then after playing turned it off.

I dont use that linksys, but I experience the same problem when I dual client :( what should I do? some people said to me that Mistwoods made you go ld each 10 mins, so Im not sure if its me or the zone. Can someone help me please?
