Light sources

Being that I primarily play humans and barbarians, having a light source is important. Unfortunately, although lightstones can go in the ammo slot, they do NOT cast any light from there. Nor do they cast light from inventory (even if not in a bag). Is there a way to fix this?

I understand that night blindness is an inherent disability to these races, but ya know...by level 48 I should have maybe some easy means of taking care of this without having to lose my range item or my secondary weapon/shield. :-/

I can illusion as a dark elf with my rogue, but as soon as I zone that goes away...any suggestions? HELPFUL suggestions... (ie - "play a different race" is not helpful)

I bought a Necklace of Chillsight for around 100pp to solve this on my human. Neck item with AC8 with chillsight (ultravision I believe). I've also seen a sword with ultravision depending on class, sorry can't remember the name or details but you could tell it from the name.
 
As a rogue, illusion masks might help as well. Check the wiki for some info there. If you want to stay in your human/barb form though, you might try other items. . . the Recluso Mask from SI has serpent sight, but I don't know if that's ultravision or infravision or see invis or what.
 
Perhaps more high end items could be set as lightsources if the inventory lightsource is difficult to code?

Or, try picking up a coldstone from a mage.. pretty sure those have UV on them. not much of a help though. My suggestion is to use spells that augment your vision (IE chill sight like on my ranger), or try to find an item with a lightsource. The Glowing Greatsword has a pretty large lightsource on it as well.
 
Maybe like...oh I dunno... Reznolaw's Eye as a light source? :) Yeah more items that generate light would be nice. I almost bought a necklace of chill site, but I'd give up the stats from my Newport Amulet for it. :( Booo...

Or how about that Amulet? :-D I don't need Ultravision or heat sight or anything...but SOME light would be cool. Equivalent to a lightstone or something is all I'm looking for.

I understand you can get shards of the core from mages, and vision spells from shamen, but really...it's be nice to not have to keep refreshing vision spells on my shaman. And my rogue...I don't wanna bug a mage for a summoned item every time I log in...

At the very least can lightstones be made so the light actually works from the ammo slot or inventory?

I do know about the illusion mask as well..I mentioned that already...but illusion doesn't last when you zone...looking for something that's not a pain in the ass to use just to be able to see. :(
 
The Darkstone Amulet is also an option for decents stats + infravision, but I don't know where the hell it drops. I bought it off a vendor a while back and haven't seen one since.
 
for me regular lightstones don't work as light source in my inventory as well - greater lightstones DO!

enforcer's ring works as a light source for me, too.
 
Cool..if greater lightstones work in inventory that's excellent.

Now that Darkstone amulet...does anyone know where it drops? That IS a neck piece I would definitely use on the rogue. I'd sacrifice some strength, but gain dex and sta, so it's all good. :)
