Leveling speed

Hey everyone,

I found out about this today. I played eq when kunark first came out and quit just before Omens. I was just curious, how is the leveling speed in this game. My main thing that I absolutely hated about eq was the fact that it took like 9 hours to get anything accomplished in teh game. Im married so I don't particularly have alot of time to play but my old eq days would consist of me logging in, spending an hour shouting for a group, killing mobs over and over again for 2 hours, and logging for about 2-3 blue bubbles worth of xp. I couldnt stand doing that so I quit. I generally have about 2-3 hours a night to play unless im doing something with the wife, so I was just curious if its alot easier to level in this game. EQ was probably one of the funnest MMO's ive played to date(and ive played pretty much all the main ones)

Any info you guys can give me on this would be great. If its a decent leveling speed and I can actually get to 65 without spending 45743092857240938 hours doing it, then I will play this today. Thank you

On any night I've taken the time to group, I've done a minimum of one level in a couple hours, if not more. The trick is getting into decent group in the right places. It may mean that you're going to have to stick around the same place for a particular level rangle (bleh, Paw), but you'll get better experience.

The other REALLY nice thing is that by typing /cmd stats it will tell you the exact exp mod for the Zone where EQ would never confirm or deny iircc the ZEM's on Zones.

I started playing on WR 3 days ago. I have a full time job and only get a chance to play in the evening and I don't stay up late playing because I get up early. I managed to get a lvl 17 necro and lvl 10 warrior playing moderately

Just remember that this is only part of the equation. Not all mobs of the same level are the same difficulty. Slicing through many mobs in one zone with a lower ZEM can give you as much if not more than plodding through less (more difficult) mobs in a zone with a higher ZEM. This, I would think, would be one of the more important factors that drive what the ZEM is for a zone.

You should also consider how much fun you're going to have in a zone. LOIO in EQLive was easy, and safe. That's why so many people went there. But it was BORING. If you got a decent group together and went to a dungeon like Kaesora, you'd have a heck of a lot more fun.

Welcome aboard!

You're description of EQLive sounds about the same as mine years back before I quit. The leveling here is substantially faster. Hour upon hour doesn't bode well with the my wife so I play for an hour or so and am still able to get something done. Of course I'm content playing the low/mid level game since I would rarely have a time slot available for raiding. Take it slow and enjoy it for what it is. If you have a halfway decent machine you may want to consider dual clienting which is possible with EQWindows. It's a nice way to lesson downtime. You just have to get used to switching between the two windows.

Good Luck!

You can get aa faster on live then you can get here.

Not sure how fast it is now but w/ pop i could get an aa every 45-60 minutes solo in like plane of nightmare, grouped in bot, 1 every 30-45 minutes.

Elemental planes were just as fast if not faster.

Hi and welcome! I only have 1 bit of advice.

WORK ON BIND WOUND! YOU WON'T REGRET IT! NO MATTER WHAT CLASS YOU ARE! DO IT ANYWAY!

Oh I'm sorry I should a bit more to this. Leveling is pretty easy untill you get to mid 30s, then it slooooows doooooown.

I've only been playing off and on for a couple of weeks. I'm already level 27 so leveling seems to be going very quickly. I'm sure it will slow down soon, or at least I hope so because I like to travel and explore while still getting experience from an area. Once it becomes all green, it isn't as much fun to explore.
