Killing Bankers

Last night someone killed the Southern Newport banker. Although a GM did summon another one shortly after. Would it be better to make it like attacking the translocator? Getting dropped for 20k damage? Or give the bankers death touch. I was going to suggest just to make them level 65 and have them hit hard but some people might just attack them and drag them across the zone.

Thanks for reading.

Kill them and lose banker faction. All bankers tied to the same faction table which makes them dubious and unable to use any banker. :p

I like the faction hit mobs.. Then we could add an Appease the bankers quest to restore faction. If all the Bankers were tied to the same Faction table, and people realized killing them would cause them to be unable to use ANY banker (pocket plane included) then perhaps they'd think twice.

Well if there was a way to then regain the faction, you're basically back at the start because they wouldn't care if they took faction hits, as long as they could regain it.

Depends on how -annoying- the faction regaining quest was. I'd be sadistic and make it extremely tedious and long, even for 60+ characters.

I'm not sure what adept mob means to me, that might be it, I'm not familiar with that term.. I know you can give them a great deal of HP and make thim hit incredibly hard.. As for invulnerability, not sure, but that kills realism. There are much more fun ways of dealing with people who prey on such dedicated servants of the realm.

Remember in live, you would go to Nurga to fix your faction for Goblins of Mountain Death faction. I know people that stayed in Nurga for weeks on end to fix that faction. Make that the banker faction fixer zone....just make it 15 times longer to fix your faction :D

I know it'll be easier to make it a level 1 adept...but being evil is more fun.

:) I personally think that the factiosn would add to immersion and realism.

The faction thing is on purpose, as far as I know. We like to fuck asshole griefers over permanently. :)

Wasn't there a thing in Cabillis on live where you had to go to the taskmaster and swing this huge, heavy hammer with a massive delay hundreds of times to fix your faction with your home guild if you screwed it up? Kind of like breaking rocks on a rockpile. Your wrists and fingers would remind you forever after not to screw up certain factions in the game.

Aye, it was called the Penance quest. If you destroyed your starting newbie quest item you couldn't complete the quest, and to get a new one, you had to speak to the toilmaster. He would jibe you with a few insults and then give you a heavy Hammer of Exoneration with a delay of 60 and it had a damage of 4. The quest requirements was to collect 8 bone fragments combine them to get one bone powder. And you needed 7 bone powders to complete the quest. So all in all your weapon had to proc 56 times, and that was a long and laboring time. I recalled it took me roughly 3 hours of killing to finally get my 7 bone powders.

So yeah, this would be a great quest idea for anyone who decides to kill a banker to build faction back up. But make it harder and make them suffer more! :finger:

The various citizens and military of towns don't appreciate murders and other criminal acts being commited on their soil, which is the reason for the harsh penalties of no way to regain faction. If you commit murder, people aren't going to forget. Killing a harmless citizen that's trying to provide a helpful service to adventurers will cause everyone in town to turn their head and notice.

Wow.. When I destroyed my newbie monk shackle I just made a new char and MQ'd it...

If you just went fast and nobody did thier quest before you had a chance to give him the two bandit sashes (headbands?) then there was no problem....

Now I really miss Field of Bone ;(
