That sounds like a great reason to make jewellery augments a touch more powerful! Maybe along the lines of the jewellery augments are especially good at resists so instead of being +3,6,9,12 it could be +6,9,12,15. Along the same lines I could see armor augments (slot 2) being extra good at AC and receiving a +1 bonus to each level.

Just a thought that seems logical to me.
 
That will do nothing except power up players for no reason. Cost, supply and demand remains the same because there is no alternative. Adding another slot to aug means the demand goes up, which is at least a valid reason to add some extra stats to players, your idea does nothing good.

And the whole "armor augments getting +1 AC" I'm not even going to go into..
