I love DCing.
I will argue against DCing reducing your attachment to your characters. I love my duo and I play them each with their own personality. At times they will bitch and moan at each other, they check each others mana, and one will pull mobs before the other is ready just to be annoying.
One char will usually thank vendors after he buys(or sells) something from them, the other wont because he thinks it beneath him. One char likes to help people in trouble, and the other doesnt care. Now if thats not an example of individual personalities then i dont know what is.
I also spend a lot of time with a friend playing a third char here on the lan. We dont really accept others into our group because it is
very constrictive compared to rl voice comms, and convenient afk's. (In fact this is how most of my gaming time is spent)
Sometimes we even get a fourth(3rd person) playing here, but thats not so often anymore.
Also grouping is more for xp. Those of us that waste time looking around and stumbling into quests and mobs will never find a group willing to join us. I mean really, people who look for groups can be quite boring as it seems they are frequently only interested in the xp grind, or a certain loot drop.
You have created a world for us to play. Dont be surprised if we dont all play it your way.
Just because you cannot imagine becoming /rp with multiple characters, that doesnt mean that the rest of us cannot.
I would have a very hard time of it if I could play only one char. It would probably have me facing the decision to quit as soloing is terribly boring, and grouping over the net doesnt hold a candle to face to face grouping fun and convenience.
Also running on a very different timezone to peak means that group availability is significantly reduced.
sincerely,
Me, Myself & Irene
ps. They dont train each other yet, and i'm pretty glad of that, but who knows what the future will bring.
pps. No I dont have a split personality. :brow:
