I keep getting pop ups even when im not on IE at all. Tried in the control panel and messenger is disabled.I have ran my virus scanner, 3 kinds of spyware programs and it still happens any ideas? I noticed when I go under tools in IE that the cookies keeps going down even though i put it up higher.

copy what processes are currently running, and whats starting up from your msconfig file, and that might give some of us a better chance to know whats going on.

I noticed on the internet options that the accept all cookies will not stay up a higher lever no matter what I do in internet explorer.
 
Spoolsv.exe is your cause.

Start in safemode run virus scan this should remove it.

Might have to edit registry dunno

It should. I like to reformat every 1-2 years, it definitely helps to have a fresh slate. The fun part is carefully backing EVERYTHING up :p
 
Well I ran virus scan in safe mode and it did not work. So I reformatted, what a friggin headache, but all is well now. Now to install my game cd's and patch.
 
Steps to making sure this doesn't happen again. Get Vundofix and Spybot S&D scan with those often, they are free and work pretty damn well. Also afaik Nortan sucks balls, go to trend micro and use their online scanner at least it works lol. Use firefox unless you have IE 7, which it doesn't sound like you do. Also, if there are process that are running that you don't know about use google to find out what they are, and try to cut down on as many useless processes as possible, it will help you keep a cleaner faster computer.
