In light of MoP changes - other travel options?

Please add boats that run from Newport and Goblinskull to Frosthorn Coast. I feel as though the northern areas are neglected for boat travel. This would serve Athica, Newport, Underhill, Kelethin, and Surefall Glade.

Those in Tarhyl Crags, Sadri, Oggok, and Grobb would unfortunately need to use the docks in Freeport as their means to travel without using MoP. :( But there may be another method of travel that fits into the game's storyline even...

Another option perhaps worth talking about is having each of the three factions (COI, SC, BS) offer "caravan travel" to those people who carry their badge (similar to the old SC caravan travel that existed WAY back when). Obviously if you're a member of Council of Innovation, your travel is restricted to zones where they operate camps. Likewise for the other 2 factions. In order to travel to those locations, maybe a prerequisite is that you must have already been to those camps to get flagged.

This may sound contradictory, but as you rise in rank with a certain faction, your cost for travel should be increased. This means people at lower levels can still use the travel, but as they gain in level (and assuming they progress through the faction quests) they pay more per trip. Maybe rank 1 is 5p per trip. Rank 2 is 10p per trip. Rank 3 is 20p per trip. Rank 4 is 40p per trip, etc etc. An overall small plat sink, but I think it would be a great way to facilitate people grouping in places that may be a little harder to get to.

At the end of the trip, you have a temporary stun effect placed on you for 1 minute as you gather your gear from the caravan and get ready to move out. This makes it quicker than boat travel, but it costs money. The stun effect makes it not be "instant" travel. It also requires that you get involved in the Council of Innovation/Silver Crown/Blackscale storylines.

What do you think?

PS - I've been gone quite a while so I wasn't playing when the MoP change was first introduced...

The old MoP was an annoyance, but I would occasionally take it as a gamble when I could find no port or boat to where I needed to go. With the recent changes, it's no longer a matter of "Gee I hope I don't lose a buff" and has become "I really hope I don't get ping-pong killed again and lose every single buff I have and get xp debt".

If there were a larger player population, the chances of buying a wizard or druid port are much better, but as it is now, those abilities are not very reliable for traveling unless you box one. (Yes I have one of each, so I can port myself whenever and wherever).

My first impression of the thread (especially with the title) was that it was written as a joke in poor taste. Seriously. I no longer enjoy taunting people who can't handle the MoP, and personally, I never want to hear about it again.

For some strange reason, I decided to keep on reading, and then I was able to see that this is actually a pretty interesting idea. How about Dragons from DHK doing flybys over various zones, thus making Scale clicky used for more than just DN travel? Maybe the Coralsha family of the Giants have worked something out with the wizard dwarves of Thurgadin, and certain teleportation locations (with the blessing of Shojar) exist for those with a Storm clicky

either way just cut out the "oh woe is me I can't handle the Mansion of Lols"

I've trimmed my post to remove my rationale behind my post.

Please note this thread is intended to be more about offering alternate modes of travel for all levels to areas not currently served by boats. These are meant to be alternatives to MoP. Please don't list reasons why MoP is great or the cool strats how to win at the game of MoP. It's not about that. Thanks.

I think the silver crown camps all used to have a coach master that used to port players between the camps in western badlands, freeport, and greenmist. Bring back the caravans.

They did back in 2005 or 2006. I can't remember if they existed during WR or if they were added after it became SOD. That was of course back before the Silver Crown had much of a story and IIRC they let anyone use their travel services.

I've always wondered why there was never a boat going to Frosthorn Coast. Since it's in such an awkward location, an NPC dialog system similar to getting from Oasis to Sundered Mountains would work best. It could send players to the eastern island in FC then the boat that was there on Live could drop off players at the docks. Perhaps there could be "rafts" in Goblinskull at one of the docks and maybe even in Oasis at the docks alongside the Taldorians there.

As for the caravans, I love the idea. I really missed that aspect of playing years ago. I'd suggest a rank requirement for it as an added perk for advancing beyond a few more stats on the augment. Perhaps advancing one or two ranks beyond the requirement to finish the Heartlands section. Also, each faction could have their own quests to unlock the travel perk. The quest could simply be going to all of the destinations and turning in items to a specific NPC.

I'd like to see the 2 roaming mop many armed things in the courtyard have a bigger model to reflect their much larger aggro range. I think this would be less confusing to first time mop'ers. Oh wow, that guy is huge, while the others inside the mansion are smaller, I should be more cautious around those big ones. Also, this would make it easier to see the ones in the courtyard. I find it hard to see them occasionally since my Erudite has very dim vision. The ones inside are easy to see because the lighting in their is much better. Anyway, not earth shattering or anything but I think this would be a good change

Making it easier to access Frosthorn Coast would be a good idea too. That place is a pain in the ass to get to without a druid.
