The econmy on the server is not very good for 2 reasons (a) you can earn plat np but with the small amount of dropable items and items dropped by npcs etheir by quest or kill theres nothing being bought and or sold on the server other then high end items dropped by exstremly raid worthy mobs hence guilds control the items and the money. and (b)not many players on the server are of raid lvl for the high end items.

My idea is to implement more quested items for lower lvl's or more drops at lower lvls so the econmy may grow from the ground up instead of the ssky down.

Berakus lvl 11 war
Shanling lvl 12 monk
Berkana lvl 3 wiz
Shanling lvl 51 war Eqlive

An interesting twist on the problem. Perhaps the low-end game should be given a bit of priority over end-game when trying to come up with economy and money-sink solutions. I like the analogy. :p

The problem with increasing low-level drops or lowering the difficulty of obtaining such items is that the higher level players are just that; higher leveled. With such changes to the low level game, it would become obvious that the rest of the game would need to be tweaked upwards in reward and downwards in difficulty.

Money is rather useless right now -- and I imagine it will be for some time. The server is far from complete, and trying to find a use for money across the level-wide board is troublesome, just for the scope of the task and the fact that the game will be constantly changing, thereby requiring constant changes to the use of money.

That makes the buying and selling of items difficult, unless moderated by a guild -- I think this was being done at one point, with some of the excess items from GoTW.

Adding in more items of the same power as current for the lower levels is another anomaly -- for instance, last time I remember, there were several lower-level zones, but most of the players were grinding it out in Unrest. I'm just making a conjecture here, but I have a feeling that adding in new items will either lead to them not being used, or other items not being used because A) the lower levels burn buy with relative quickness and B) Because of this fact, low level items are grown out-of. And C) People will use the items that are easiest to acquire, IE: the items available in the zones of immediate use.

I've rambled about the possibilites of economy before, so... I've done it again. I hope I got a point in theresomewhere.

The reason that I believe there isn't 10 level 10-20 zones (for example) all completely itemized up the wazoo is that there doesn't need to be. If you think about it, people don't even use all the zones that are already present, as Lucrezia said, so adding more just isn't effective. The problem lies is that no one knows about all this loot that's still around. Granted, I think we could do with some more quests and a little more variety in loot (god, so orc lord robes!) but it's the knowledge that is most important. Go out and explore! That's what this server is all about. If we knew where everything was, where to get it, how many swings we'd need in order to kill the mob, it would tire out.

As for a real economy, I have no idea how to fix that. Plat is useless for anything but peridots and spells, but what can be done? There isn't enough people, and there's nothing really to buy. No merchant-bought money sinks that could be used. Maybe there should be a purchasable jboot (with a casting time to make the quest viable), some working weight reduction bags. Some say tradeskills are the answer. Honestly, that's just a whole other story, since none of you have ever attempted the DB work. :p But for all you waiting for it, JC is nearly completion... maybe then there will be somewhat of a need for plat.

In other words, overlord04, we hear your plea. We feel your pain. And we're trying to do something about it. :)

just brainstorming

first off: i have no idea what you guys can or cannot do. just some ideas to throw around.

would a casino like live did be a viable alternative to get money out of bank vaults?

a lot of the old UOemu shards i played on used gold to dye armor/weapons, even skin colours.

could also try to incorporate the ldon augs but just use plat instead of ldon points.

maby even add some different skills to classes that use training points/cash. i woulda plunked down 400k to train dbl atk with my bard on live or backstab heh ^_^

this, i think, is not possible: add a subclass quest that can incorporate up to lvl 30 in a different class. totally unbalancing... but was always a pipe dream of mine.
