I know you americans mostly won't care, but....

When is England gonna play good in a WC / EC tournament ? Nuchre when ?

Probably never as there are virtually no English players in the EPL. Basically, England are crap and will be until there is a foreign player cap.

BTW the discussion about how NFL players would fare playing soccer and vice versa is futile. Every sport looks for different physical characteristics so even if the players retrained they wouldn't necessarily make good players in another sport. In the extreme can't see an NFL player being a good tennis player and definitely not playing good table tennis.

But if that happened your team would go back to fighting relegation battles year after year =P

And to be honest, I think it's the exact opposite. England won't get better until more of their stars start playing on the continent and start learning different styles of football.

There are almost no English players in the EPL so they aren't getting high level experience. There will only be loads of English players on the continent if they are playing in the EPL and get noticed by European clubs. A very vicious circle.

There is not one single English player on the National team who does not play for an English club in the Premiership. The only exception is Defoe who plays in Tornto. but hasn't seen decent time in a major tournament for a while.

The young core they have now: Sterling, Hendo, Wilshere, Barkley, Lallana, Sturridge...time overseas would seriously improve their games and would prepare them better for international contests.

Oh and the first thing they should do is sack that bumbling idiot Roy Hodgson. He's gotta go asap.

I didn't say there were no players, just that, for example Chelsea and Manchester City have at most 2 players in their first team. There has to be a pool of 200+ players to pick not 40 or 50. When a premier league team needs to fill a team spot quickly they aren't growing local talent they are scouting the continent and Africa for instant signings. How many English clubs play even 5 English players in their team regularly? Remember Manchester United in the 90s where they grew a whole squad of local players over 3 or 4 years. Who does that now?
