I crash on zoning nearly 100% of the time

Oddly, I can almost always get in from the character screen. On an occasion where I don't get in, the dbg.log looks like this:

[Sun Nov 02 08:01:46 2014]00251:net_connect: rdp 0x0ced3ee0 is connecting to 184.107.119.101:7263...

[Sun Nov 02 08:01:46 2014]00252:net_connect: I am connected to 184.107.119.101:7263...

[Sun Nov 02 08:01:46 2014]00253:net_connect: returning 0...

[Sun Nov 02 08:01:46 2014]00254:Connected to 184.107.119.101:7263...

[Sun Nov 02 08:01:46 2014]00255:Sent request to zone for EQPlayer.

This is on windows 7, 64 bit, eqw. Affinity binding doesn't seem to matter, not using eqw seemed worse.

yeah man me too. like it was more of 75% of the time i'd crash. but yeah it was some bullllllllllllllllllllshit.

Well good news and bad. It does seem to help on the crashing issue, but the lag is brutal. (Using the free version, paid might take care of the lag)

Update.... zone crashing is gone, and lag seems to be a bit better since I told the vpn software to block ipv6 and only use ipv4

I just want to confirm that the vpn works as well. I was having the same issue after I started where I crashed 75% of the time when zoning, and now since using vpn, I have not crashed once. So thank you!

This is very weird. I wonder why the VPN would help. Hopefully someone with better net chops can shed some light.

yeah my ISP blocked CyberGhost so I'm looking for a new VPN. Ugh. Crashing so much that I have to have another window ready to open EQ anytime I zone because it crashes 75% of the time!

And i'm looking at the boards and seeing all sorts of people with the same problem, WHAT IS UP? This never happened to me before until a couple months ago.

Another post I am late on, but to answer you directly Waldoff, route. Plain and simple. The VPN Fuwok is connecting to has another route to the SOD server. After all the forum posts I've read regarding connection issues I've learnt one thing: If you live (HERE) and have (X) ISP, you are screwed. :(

I am really glad I ran across this post!

For months now, I rarely played SoD. It would take 5 or 6 attempts to get past the character select screen and the majority of the time, the game would crash on zoning. Trying to two-box was nearly impossible.

I installed CyberGhost VPN last night and have had absolutely no trouble since then!!
