How people solve quests like Amice of the Golden Dawn, the first time

Just curious.

since i'll be honest, i solve most quests by looking it up on the wiki.

for such long and involved quests like amice of the golden dawn, which to my knowledge, didn't really give that many hints in the dialog...

how did people know it was worth it to do, or find those 8 dawnshards to begin with?

do people get hints from dev's that, hey, you should take a look at this quest? or really, people are just that curious and diligent? props to them.

reminds me old eq conspiracy that the symbols on the spectre tower in oasis meant something.

  • Step 1: people stumble over quest
  • Step 2: people read quest dialog & journal
  • Step 3: people run around like mad, kill random shit in random zones looking for their questdrop / groundspawn
  • Step 4: people do turnins & are happy about rewards. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Me and yona did it way way back when... it was pretty lame to say the least. I think yona beat me by a day or so.

the vah line was 1000x more painful to figure out than anything in the game.

the blackscale artifacts we're annoying as well. I still dont know where a couple are.

that's also what made the quests fun imo

Aisling's guide to quests
Method 1
1. Load imeriaz
2. Press Track button in zones select someone with an impressive sounding name, especially if they have some form of title.
3. Visit Npc's often in their place of residence, by bursting through the door unceremoniously and saying hello several times whilst they gape in silent astonishment presumably wondering at the girth and composition of the massive balls it takes to go around just bursting into people's homes.
4. Read what they say, pay special attention if they seem to have a problem, or mention an impressive sounding place, item, or name. If no quest is found repeat from step 2.

Method 2
1. Load Imeriaz
2. Press track in zones that are presumably not towns
3. Find things with impressive sounding names.
4. Go to said things
5. Relentlessly murder said things, and then jack their items.
6. While rifling through your fallen vic- *ahem* I mean worthy adversary's pockets pay special attention to any nodrop items you may see. Especially when said items look bad, or are seemingly random pieces of junk.
7a. Ask friends what said items are for
7b. See method 1, oftentimes someone will ask for said items, if they do, say oh, hold on a moment, and present them for a glorious reward.

Method 3

1. Wander through zones picking up anything you find on the ground, no matter what or where it is.
2. See method 1

Random people find stuff too and lots of times will announce in ooc what they found asking what it is for.

The symbols do mean something. If you have ever noticed that many factions in EQ have a logo or coat of arms. The symbols in the tower include the logos of 4 evil factions including the dark elves. I forget what the other three are.
