In your EQ directory you should have a subdirectory named /maps. Go inside there, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-X to cut them and then move them someplace else (say in a parallel old_maps directory).
I'm not saying anything terribly wise, perhaps I'm misunderstanding your problem?
