Hmmm... What Class...

Hello everyone,

Well... after taking a 6 month or so break from SoD I decided to start playing again, but I'm having some trouble choosing what class / race that I want to be. I was thinking of a Bard, Druid, Necro, or Wizard but i can't decide... Looking for a good damage class with minimal down-time.

What I remeber from live -

Bard - Twisting songs, not sure on the damage. :what:

Druid - Had a 65 druid on live, kiting everything around and AoE kiting, and i could portal

Wizard
- HUGE damage... nothing can compare, but had a decent amount of downtime. :dumb:

Necro - Engage monster, DOT, DOT, DOT, DOT, Send Pet, FEAR, DOT, DOT, DOT, DOT, DOT, DOT, Loot, Rinse / Repeat :keke:

Any input on what class I should choose? Or even dual-boxing, just need a little help here.

Thanks in advance.

First off, that thread should probably be in classes & gear.

That being said, fear is disabled in SoD until further notice.
AE works differently than on live...
You might want to re-read the starter posts and the wiki to get your knowledge in line :).

Bards have no downtime, but probably the least dps soloing without relic dot

The rest are really a toss-up on which you would rather play,

Well that depends on whether you eventually want to raid or not as well. All of them are good soloing classes, although I'd put necro close to the top if not the top. Massive damage + lifetaps and fd. I would have ranked druid first, as they can heal their pets+themselves+ their transportation skills are unmatched as well as having decent nonrootbreaking dots+ pretty damm good nukes, however I would imagine in the case of a solo career, necros would save quite a bit of time xp and plat by having fd over a druid. They're close though. I'd pick based on what you'd rather primarily do in groups/raids. Druid=> you're gonna heal, Necro=> you're going to kill stuff/flop and significantly cut raid downtime.

Wizards are decent at soloing, not as good based on pure class abilities as the previous two, nor I would think more than bards. You will faaaaar outdamage bards in the raidgame. Though as far as long fights go, I'd put necros a step above. I wouldnt be surprised if on a 15-20 minute fight if a necro would significantly outdps a similarly geared wizard (after the necro gets festering curse of course, which goes up freaking hiiiiiigh. The last tick I paid attention to while botting a necro it was doing around 1k/tick. It lasted alot longer too, but checking the dmg while running another character and strafing around is a pain in the ass).

As far as bards I've seen them pull off some pretty impressive soloing, but I'd put them 3rd, even though I'd expect downtime to be fairly minimal, kiting a whole bunch of mobs requires alot of practice though.

No fear!? O noes.

Oh well. Thanks for the input, think I'll try out a necro for now, Dual Box with a druid maybe?

Gonna seem like a good break from a Monk / Shaman combo.

Also, Thanks for the post move, didnt even see the Classes & gear section.

And one last thing, what seem to be the most underplayed classes?

Paladin and Rogue.

Oh wow people are playing enchanters?

Also when i was playing a while back there seemed to be a lack of beastlords.

I think the better question to ask is Which class has the least amount of players as a main

TBH I was just going off the information provided in the following post (small sampling, with lots of error, but still. . . .):

Wow. Are Paladins really that hard to find?
If so, I'm totally jumping back into the roll of my first love, the often underpowered and underappreciated; Paladin.
