List of hard to avoid AEs:
Arch Mage Kextal's Elemental Sundering
Taeshlin's AE
Yug'Izig the Spider-Keeper's Dissolving Poison
Manifestation of Earth's AE
Gishan's Lifetap (yeah it's a lifetap, just listing)

I revamped a lot of AEs with the resists changes, so it'd be nice if you cited some examples.

Taesh's 6k was the example cited me. -- I was parroting this back from Honch et al. who are too pansy to man up and post; haven't tested anything myself.

Also, from personal experience, first boss of Caverns has an AE that goes through walls and absolutely RAPES mana (don't recall exact per tick, but it takes over 3500 over the course) and you can't block it with walls. The only kill we did, we had bardsong keeping the chain resistiing it -- without the ability to resist it consistently, you just have to pray that 3 clerics resist it every time (otherwise chain falls apart, not to mention padders).

Rab, if you're referring to the CoD raid that I accompanied Legacy on, I was shielded from the AE because of my clever placement - behind a wall. It's a good thing too, because even with phat bard resists I woulda died in two ticks with that AE on, I'll agree, it's awful. Then again, it was meant to be tough. :(

Some other ones that i can think of off the top of my head are
1 Gishna in Sepulcher
2.Arch Mage something in Caverns of Darkness (mana drain goes through walls 150 range, hit our clerics with 400+mr)
3. Inner prison trash (4500 dd nuke)
4. The dd rune on ysthar sorcerors (not raid but its resist related) Edit: Torrent of Shadows

I thought the resist boost was supposed to go both ways, Wiz?

I know my level 63 necro has gotten mez'd well over 50% of the times, but greenies in paw. His MR sucks, but still, they're greenies. :)

It's a royal pain in the ass, but I like it because it's challenging and very few monks could do it. Then again it might be easier if we used a zerg pulling team!

Not THAT AE, but his other, mana draining one that put me at 20m when Icar and Thoias were at 70m because I got hit. Not blockable by walls, very hard to resist.

erik had 350 magic resists and kept getting charmed by a WW dragon since a recent patch and didn't resist it once, intended or?

With 350 Magic resist, and 328 FR and other similar resists, I could just barely split Lady of Sorrows and friends, I died 8 times doing it. Some encounters with insane caster mobs make splitting near impossible now, I dont know many Monks or Shadowknights who can get past 350 MR without the use of bard songs. I know she has that crazy -200 resist mod on her lifetap, but regular "Darkness" spells still hit me a few times from the other necros, breaking my feign death and killing me near instantly. Similary, I had 325 Magic Resist and 280ish to the rest and could barely split Lady Liana Elthannar from her invoker buddies. When Liana lands 'Boil Blood' on me, I know something is wrong. When there are tough caster mobs with other tough caster mobs, doing these splits is really difficult. Just hoping that stuff like that could be looked at. No group should be punished because they dont have a bard to sing resists (please no jokes, keep it serious).

edit: I'll try to think of some other things, these 2 just stand out in my mind because I split them both through sheer aggro loss luck.

The ae on the first manifiestation during the manis event is also extremely hard to resist.

While we are on the topic of resists, the frost giant preators in GD seem to be rediculously hard to resist.

Most of them are green to Aarielly, a few are light blue, and they land their stuns and roots 72 percent of the time.

For a green or light blue mob to be able to land spells that consistently does not seem right.

Granted, my resists are pretty low, but this still seems wrong.

After several trips in the past couple weeks I came up with these results for how many spells I resisted and how many actually landed.

Instills Resisted: 5
Retribution Resisted: 7
Holy Might Resisted: 14

Stuns that landed:56
Instills that landed: 8
Unknown Spells that landed: 3

Total spells resisted: 26
Total spells landed: 67

Over all resist rate against green and light blue mobs: 28 percent
Over all resist to root: 38 percent (unknown spells excluded)
Over all resist to stun: 20 percent (unknown spells excluded)
Over all resist to Retribution - unknown

Now, if these spells are intended to be that difficult to resist, thats cool, but I wanted to bring it up. Having died a few times because a wandering green cleric agroed is depressing to say the least. If it keeps up the Wizard guild is going to revoke my port liscense.

=/

EDIT: I realized that the retribution spells that landed are missing from above, and that I lumped retribution in wiht the stuns. I removed them when I stripped out all the melee damage. Also, I corrected the overall resist rate on the stuns (holy might) to reflect just the stuns (not the retribution). This doesn't really affect the outcome, but I wanted to correct it for accuracy.

I already said this in IRC but I'm going to take a look at a few Sepulcher/Caverns mobs and see if their resist mods may be a bit too high. I wouldn't count on Elemental Sundering getting a look though because being able to resist the ae easily would remove pretty much all risk from that encounter.

Edit: I take that back. I'll be lowering it slightly.
