HI!

Hi all, I'm new to this server and I haven't played EQ in about two years. I hope to have a lot of fun with all of you and I'll see you online!

That said, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the FAQ or whatever, I can't figure out how to create an account for Winter's Roar.

If I go to the create account screen it asks me for a CD key, which I don't have.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it!!!

Thanks in advance!
btw I used search and I looked at the forum FAQ and all the stickies so don't tell me to do that please.

Also, it would probably be a good idea to put the instructions on the main page, but I'm tired and maybe I'm missing something obvious!

Adios!

EGADS!

Too bad you're a mod ;). I'm sure you could tell me all I wanted to know about monks on this server... DARN! Now I have to explore and have fun.

Oh yeah ding 2 btw!!!

The GM to ask about monks would be Liam. He sure does know a lot of cool stuff about monks.

(And you know, all the other high level monks know too :p)

Hi Liam

Thanks man,

I only implied Zarcath because he's a mod at monkly-business as you probably know.

Anyways, since I have a little bit of attention, I have a couple of questions.

1. Monk Styles - Are all of the monk specific ones "special" styles (ie. ruin dps for 10 minutes afterwards?)

2. Can Iksars still forage?

3. I have so far been able to skill up on all non-offensive skills using greens, can I expect that allways? Is that a bug? If not why don't my offensive skills go up?

4. Is there a definitive list/ultimate link/etc... kind of thread that leads to each of the posts that are extremely informative, like The Syle Thread

5. If not, is anyone interested in helping me make one by throwing a few of their choicest links together?

6. I've noticed skill ups and XP are much faster then on live, does this continue throughout leveling?

7. Should I join soandso's guild who was broadcasting that newbies should join and he would help them get guilded when they reach a high level?

8. To be continued maybe...

Thanks for all your help! If these questions are answered elsewhere then I'd love a link.

Btw its beautiful how the majority of people here seem to be intelligent and not flamers. Perhaps that comes from having such a cryptic/difficult signup that excludes b-net kids and leet dewds.

Thanks for an awesome server!

8. Have the coding for Agility, Strength and Dexterity all been changed from the live servers? Every parse I've ever done/seen of them on live has shown them to have virtually no affect on dps/avoidance/mitigation

9. Has anyone documented the modified effects of instill doubt?

Sorry to be such a min maxer, maybe I should just play the game ;).

Edit

10. EQ will not allow me to use all the models in its current incarnation despite having 1024 mb ram, a 2.8 ghz P4, and a GeForce FX5600... How do I fix this?

PS - The live incarnation allows me to enable models...

Edit 11. Is the skill up system the same as on live? With regards to caps? If I am level 5 is my cap = to 5 * level +5... ie 30 at 5?
I know there are exceptions but in general?

Edit again...

12. I'm level 5 and I can't kill bats but all the other stuff is green to me. I'm trying to find a place near thurg to fight in.

My wanelo is in the sig... heh, pretty impressive, I know ;).

At that level you should be able to kill the rogue dwarves in GD. They spawn on the hill and by that glyph thingy. You can kill them up til about 9 or so, then you can hit the bats.

Skill ups are a bit faster, i think, and the caps are the same.

Agility affects avoidance. Dex helps you hit more. Strength helps you hit harder. Mitigation is determined by AC. All of these mean things. Like, a lot.

Not all monk styles are special. Aggressive is what they usually use, since it's increased haste with no avoidance penalty for monks (though other classes have that penalty).

Iksars can still forage. Food/drink is needed to help in combat so you don't lose DPS/avoidance, etc. food is needed for stamina regen. Water is needed for mana regen.

Guild choices are entirely your own. All guilds are player run with no GM involvement (even though we GMs are in these guilds.)

Not sure why you can't enable all the luclin models, as I assume you mean. I don't use them really, since it just makes my computer load slower (I have a good comp as well, comparable to yours). I like my loading times to be as fast as possible :)

Welcome to WR, we're happy to have you. :)

Thanks for all your replies. I'm too tired to think of more questions, in the mean time does anyone have any other comments about str dex and agi?

I mean experiments with agi contributing to ac/avoidance? That kind of stuff. I just like number crunching. Same goes for str/dps vs 1 mob or dex etc...

Suffice to say that all the stats have a meaningful point on WR.

STR affects max damage.
STA is HP, stamina, the usual.
DEX is hit chance, proc chance.
AGI is avoidance.
INT/WIS are mana, obviously.
CHA affects your resist chance heavily.

All these aren't "haw haw you gain 1% from going 80 to 255 in this stat" like on Live, you gain and lose much more with stats here, so balancing your stats depending on your class is actually important.
