Help Zoning and Connection issues

About 50% of the time i zone in to a familiar area and 90% of the time i zone into a new area i get disconnected from the game and taken back to the login screen. I type my PW in and takes me to server select. i click play and about 20% of the time i get through to character select. once i get to character select im usually ok 80% of the time. this has happend enough where ive done the math for the statistics. ive RAN the PATCHER MULTIPLE TIMES. i have no firewall up because it seems to happen less with it off. ive got no other programs up. can anyone help?

I can't help you as I'm no techie, but I moved your character to East Freeport after reading the petition. Sorry I can't do more, no clue what's going on.

hmm, i'm new myself, but with some mmorpg game programing experience, it sounds like the error is in the player save server, where it isn't recognizing the user save location, and it's conflicting with a previous save location which is causing a conflict which is causing you to disconnect. I'm not sure, but the way you explain it, it sounds more like a server-side problem rather than a problem with your computer.

Since you stated you don't have a firewall running, that rules out most ideas on this matter.

I'm not 100% but that's my opinion/thought here about this.

Are you getting a swarm of 1017s when trying to get in at server select? When you crash when zoning does it take you to server select and sometimes even take you to the starting splash screens?
There are multiple ways of crashing and getting booted, so I am just asking for clarification.

get taken to the starting splash screens every time.
and only sometimes do i get 1017 but like i said ive repatched over and over

I have a thread open where my girlfriend crashes constantly, everytime she zones, gates, or dies. Everyone has tried to be pretty helpful, but I don't think there is a fix for this.

ugh. it could be something on their end like Kain said, but how could i go about bringing this to their attention

All you can do is what I have done for the past week....
Keep refreshing your thread to see if someone responds.....
If someone can help, they will! Like I said, everyone has been great. But my thread is like two down from yours, titled "Game running horrible"
I got the graphics problem fixed, but the crashing to the Server Select Screen seems to have baffled everyone.

SoD is very UDP dependent. i no you stated you dont have a firewall on your computer, does your router have a firewall?
if so turn it off. dont try download on one computer while playing on another. that will cause crashing. also make sure the udp ports 5997 and 9000 are maped into your internal ip. this may fix your problems it may not. worth trying i suppose though

Your dbg erros are a little different then my girlfriend's. This is her's when she crashes:

[Sat Sep 06 13:02:26 2008]03508:Sent request to zone for EQPlayer.
[Sat Sep 06 13:02:28 2008]03509:TIMED OUT WAITING FOR MY EQPlayer (in GetZoneInfoFromNetwork())!! top = 0

[Sat Sep 06 13:02:28 2008]03511:processGame. Exiting normally.

----And I think this is when she tries to log in after she crashes and she can't:

i opened the ports and still crashing.

Are you using a duo-core processor?

I had SoD installed on my laptop, which has duo-core, and even though I used the fix to set affinity I was crashing almost every single time I zoned. Even though the fix for duo-core will take care of the graphic/speed problems it doesnt seem to help with crashing while zoning that duo-cores can sometimes cause.

I dont know if this is the case for you but it is something I have experienced. I was unable to find a fix and ended up just putting SoD back on my old desktop.
