Hi everyone,

I'm new to WR, ive played it a few times on a friends comp, and enjoyed it alot ...

so anyway after I hit run on the WR patcher I get an error that reads:
ERROR: String not found (303)

any ideas as to why/what this is? any and all help apprecoated thank you.

After you run the patcher and it downloads the files you need, just start EQ normally rather than through the patcher.

Run the patcher frequently, though, so you get the latest updates.

THIS POST IS INCORRECT. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, FOLLOW THIS ADVICE, UNLESS YOU MANUALLY COPY FILES FROM /EVERQUEST/WRFILES/ TO /EVERQUEST/

Under any other circumstances, you MUST run EQ through the patcher.

Patcher

Actually since I play only on wintersroar I use the patcher, it downloads the files you need into a folder within wrpatcher folder, I then copy/ paste those files into eq folder and run it normally without patcher afterwards, I do run patcher everyday though to check for updates.

could you please explain?

would someone please explain this further? I patch using the wrpatcher, quit out of that then click the icon on the desktop...I don't do anything different. I've compared the files (at least the .txt files) and they appear to be exactly the same in my everquest folder as in the wrpatcher folder. Am I doing something wrong? Please let me know what I need to do.

Ok, when you run wrpatcher it compares and downloads files into %wrinstalldir%\wrfiles if it is needed (that is ALL it do).
Now if you hit the 'run' button after it has been downloaded it will copy all the files that currently is in your %wrinstalldir%\wrfiles into your everquest dir, so if you run patcher to download files but NOT hit the run button the downloaded files don't go into your everquest directory, so you HAVE to hit run button (or manualy copy the files, but why the fuck do that) EVERY time wrpatcher downloads a new file.

thanks

Ok, I did this afte this patch...then went to copy all the files over and they were all the same files, so I guess I'll just make sure to hit run before I exit out and run it the other way. Thanks for your help.

I have not seen an actual fix to the "ERROR: String not found [303]" error, in anything anyone has said so far about this issue. Could someone please be a little more specific? I have an XP box up and running with it, but my older Win98 box is getting the error listed in the beginning of my reply. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

Nid
