Help me find a new PC

Looking at a ~700 budget (gaming is something my wife puts up with but asking her to spend a grand on a PC for gaming might be a little far fetched.)

Would like to be able to run newer games, maybe not on ultra settings but not in 640 x 480 resolution either.
I'm soooo out of the loop on PCs, I haven't built one since a Pentium 2 processor and 128mb of ram on a video card was "good".

Any info, advice, things to look for would be appreciated. I'm leaning toward buying a prefab system instead of piecing one together.

Thanks dudes.

PCpartpicker.com can help, tevinter has a pretty sweet PC that wasnt super pricey, and if you check the affinity thread you can find a few more people to talk to about hardware. depends on what you want though because right now alot of new gen stuff is getting ready to hit but a decent amount is uneeded (ddr4 I'm looking at you) there's no bottleneck on ram atm.

Can you put a computer together? if so I'd look at some bare bone kits.

Here is a good place to look up processors.

In most cases add a GFX card and more ram to the barebones kits and you are good to go.
Motherboard and CPU's combos are another good place to start. you can usualy find mobo, ram, cpu for a decent bundle. replace the old guts of your case with the new one.

My sister just had me build her a computer for the same price range, heres what i built her. This will play all the new games. might need to turn a few things down for 1080p. If you want a slightly better graphics card the price range jumps up pretty sharp after the 750 Ti.

Should come out to around 680-700, if your not against it spend another 120 bucks and get a SSD.
