Help, did starting guide, but games freezes

Ultimagamer

Dalayan Beginner
I made the forum account, and the LS account 1 of 3.
I installed EQ evolutions.
Downloaded both WR patcher, and WR hotfix.
Installed the patcher in folder c/programfiles/sony/everquest
Unziped the hotfix in the same folder
I ran WR patcher, it downloaded many files, i believe 77, and when it was done i clicked run, everquest opened like it always did, i entered my LS account name and password, clicked connect, and everyquest freezed up on me, atually my entire comp froze up on me.

any ideas why this is happening?

thanks a bunch for looking.

I'd be interested in an answer too.. I have freshly installed eq onto my new laptop and updated it to live and then ran the patcher and the fix and it still doesn't work.. on both my pc and laptop..

On my laptop no matter which account I use (my old reclaimed account or my newly created account) it always tells me bad username/password and doesn't let me get in

On my PC it doesn't tell me bad username/password but instead has the same problem of pausing up as Ultimagamer has..

I feel a calling back to WR and I can't even get a fix.. meh

EQemu is running on a backup Login server at the moment. I don't believe anyone who didn't claim their accounts, or create them, before a certain date are pretty much shit outta luck.

Don't know if it would cause your black screen problem, but it is causing bad username/password issues.

ok i just made my first LS account today, so if what your saying is that on my new account i cant get on, untill they get the main server back up and running. i dont get bad username and password, my comp just freezes.

as i posted in eqemu forums. make sure u have no firewall or something like that running. having zone alarm caused my computer to freeze on a black screen. other then that im not sure.

in my experience having Zone Alarm running means nothing else will.

if it lets you log on, choose server, and click to begin connecting, make sure you've installed the hotfix right.

if you're quite sure you have, try searching our Tech Support forum for possible solutions. i'm assuming you haven't been there yet for obvious reasons.

try downloading the help file, don't put the help file in your main everquest directory. Put the file in your help folder of the everquest directory. So the files should go in

C:programfiles/sony/everquest/help

Or however you have yours set up. That's what worked for me.

You also might want to try and put this in the tech section.

the help.html file he speaks of is in the hotfix download. it is easy to install. download it anywhere, unzip it. copy the two folders that were created by unzipping the hotfix file and paste them into the Everquest directory. it should overwrite stuff. click Yes To All.

so, to sum up, make sure you have the hotfix installed correctly. :p

and if for no better reason than for good computer maintenance, make sure all your drivers are up to date. (including direct x and motherboard AGP driver). sometimes fixes wierd problems getting the latest stuff.

it no longer freezes up, last night, after i got it going, i put account name in and pass, and got error 1001, im assuming i got this cause the server is on the back up log in. and no new accounts are on it, and now that eqemulator is done again lol, ill just have to wait a bit more.

Also if the error 1001 is not cause of the back up server thing, plz let me know, otherwise, ill just go back to my hole, and hide from the sun till eqemulator is back up.
