Haste Change Idea (Discuss)

First of all to preface, this idea is by no means anything that's scheudled to be tossed into the next patch, it's mostly just an idea.

The idea is very simple and goes as follows:

A) Increase base melee DPS by 15%.
B) Decrease effect of haste spells by 33%.

So if someone is dealing 100 DPS pre-hasted, they would deal 175 with glory. Post change, glory would be 50% and thus they would deal 115 * 1.5 = 172 DPS. (The slightly lower number is because of the increased impact of haste items which would put it over rather than under the past numbers).

The idea of this all would be to ease up melee soloing and more unconventional groups by reducing their dependancy on buffs a little, while keeping DPS numbers roughly the same.

Right. All things based on attack speed will be scaled so nothing is indirectly nerfed.
 
i think the only guys not liking this would be shamans and enchanters. so i am all for it.
although i thought your goal was to premote grouping and wouldnt this make soloing/duoing even better?
 
Why would a shaman or chanter not like it? People will still like to have haste, and we know how nice it will be to not get harrassed for it by other players now that having haste isn't as big a deal :)

I think this would be a nice change, especially for the melee classes that can't get groups or can't solo as well.
 
Is the haste change specifically only to spells? I mean, do songs and items still have the same effect?

Also, will this affect the haste from the illusion based haste spell? I forget what it is so let's assume it's Garou.

Aside from those questions, this sounds like a grand idea because I hate having to rely completely on spells.

There's no more real need to promote grouping since the group EXP bonus does that job very amply. Adding a third/fourth/fifth/sixth member is always ONLY a bonus since you get equally much exp to what you get in a duo.
 
correct me if im mistaken, but wouldnt this lower my solo-abillity, by the fact that hasting my pet is 33% less efficient?

if that is the case i vote against it, or have it so that this change does not affect charmies please?
 
I personally don't agree that this should affect pets. For the simple reason that you aren't about to go kill some named mobs for pet haste items. I summon a 20% one with my mage, but not every pet class can do that. Please don't make this affect pets /=

Spells, songs, no items.
 
You said it wont effect pet hastes, that doesn't include regular hastes, so enchanters and other charmies will still be negatively affected, unless you give us a new charm pet haste line...and i dont see that comming, ideas?
