Barebones HC list: here

todo:
*make it not look like crap
*sort it by level
*make it so people can't delete themselves off the list after they die
*"killed by" listing?

Killed by is a must. Great list, can't wait to see what gets That 65 necro killed.

Great list, I was hoping to see who was next in line.

You can do it Herrik/Werrik

Who is Kordon , making it to 65 in 2 days without dieing is one mean feat... even with the survivability of the necro.

I am Kordon Rarr.

I have been on and off of SoD for several years. Never got into any of the big name raiding guilds. Just love the way SoD staff did to EQ my second game addiction. UO still being my number 1 drug.

It stung a little, but nothing rage worthy.

I have started a Shadow Knight Kordono

This time with more beef!

Bard is no bueno :(

If gear was easier to obtain, like in other games with HC mode, I would consider it. Dropping cash at all seems awful for something on this server. I hope everyone making and running with HC stuff enjoy it, but I certainly would be super mad if I lost my toon =/.

One of the cool things (I think anyways) is that the risk of losing items is a nice incentive to go bare bones and back to the roots of the game, using leather/chain/plate and newbie quest armor. It's cool getting a tower shield and going holy shit 12 AC. Skill ups could use some tweaking though right now they are way too slow relative to exp gains so you end up quite boned legitimately trying to play any kind of melee reliant classes

Hc is all about what you can afford to lose. I think I'm gonna make a monk and a cleric and see where they get. I'd be happy with tmap gear and baby charms.

I agree, starting and gearing up from scratch is more enjoyable, if the quests werent made in such a way that you could end up devoting many many hours to them for very small upgrades. Especially low lvl quests that seem like they should be very snappy.

"Hello, <name>, we have had a large problem with the local population or rats. Bring me 5 rat teeth for a rewards, 3 pelts for another, 20 feet for another..." etc. Seems simple enough until for some reason the drops end up being like 5% drop rate. I can't give you a great example at this time, but I feel like alot of quests are like that.

I think the BIGGEST problem with newbie quests is that you have to go around randomly hailing as a new player to find them. Usually you'll be killing the mobs they want you to kill anyways just to level up but if you don't know to collect the pieces in advance it's extremely discouraging to find out after you should have been saving all those Dog Dicks that dropped. This is not even touching on how many stupid things you are given at level 1 with only ONE 6-slot bag and lots of quests require 2-4 items to turn in. Are you telling me those dream assholes can't afford to throw one extra sack your way?

Like seriously you could slap a On Hail Get Class -> spew out Talk To X Class Quest NPC dialogue script on town guard guys and that would help too.
