I would like to see Hammer of the Giants have Bst and monk added to it. It is restricted to main hand only and is a decent weapon for the level that could work well as a weapon for either. I do not think it would be overpowered due to the slow nature of the weapon itself, being a delay of 50.


If there is a specific reason that it does not have them on it, of course ignore this idea.
 
I love this weapon. It's so underrated and you can get it so dirt cheap. The ratio is amazing for how cheap it goes for. It has a better ratio than Mruuk's Boka. That may be why it's limited in what classes can use it.

I don't really see a paladin or SK ever using this due to better droppable weapons in the same price range being available to them, but I love it on my ranger and have used it from about level 35 up to 57.
 
There really aren't very many droppable monk one handers at the high end. Rogues get HK basement dagger and there's a couple of decent slashers you can buy. Monk 1hb's have been left behind..

So yeah sounds like a nice idea or at least this thread should be a suggestion that monks lack droppable 1hb past recommended level 50ish..
 
Darkened Metal Blades or w/e, Mruuks boca and the hammer from first ruins are all very nice monk 1hnders in this range.

To be honest I think the hammer is fine. Its a nice weapon for the classes intended.
 
But they're not better ratio than fists..

I guess that's where the problem lies, droppable loot that upgrades fists is probably quite hard to place and balance, it would have to be mnk/bst only really.

Especially when any monk can get +2 fire damage on top of 13/18 from their starfall or /auc.
 
The reason that fists often seem to be "better" than 1hb is that's the RP aspect of the monk (and to a lesser extent the BL). Their body IS their weapon. And I'm sorry, but you probably won't get a lot of sympathy from other classes for being naked and being able to use two 13/18 weapons...and yes I have a 60 monk, so it's not some crazy monk hatred. :)

Mruuk's Boka is very close to Hammer of Giants as far as ratio goes. So it's not as though there's no droppable 1hb options with a good ratio for monks.

You honestly can't expect many droppable weapons with a rec. level under 60 to be better than monk fists anyway.

If you want to compare monk fists fairly to the droppable weapons, compare monk fist dmg at the rec. level of the weapon.

As for them being upgrades to fists...that's up for debate. Fists have no stats, the weapons do.
 
I only made the suggetion for two reasons. 1) increase options 2) give monks a slower and thereby lower agro weapon

Of course, I am nutty and think that almost any class should be able to use various knuckles. Why should only monks be able to use H2H weapons? I do think Monks should be far and away the best, but it seems a very basic skill that most should be able to use to some degree.
