Guardian Animation change please

I would like the AA Guardian animation for enchanters changed please. As it stands: Guardian animation, after 12 aa, will make your sword/sheild pet block 1 in 4 attacks if it is 'close' to you.

Here are my problems with it:

Solo: we dont solo with our sheildy pets :(

Group: I 'almost' ALWAYS charm. Even if, for some reason, i wasn't, i dont see this helping much at all.

Raid: 3 hits from a raid mob would kill me, and the 1 hit (assuming laws of averages) would kill my pet too. Even on trash this wouldn't be a help. Also, on raids, shieldy pet is rarely up, as it dies fast from enrage, AoE, and ripostes.


Here is what I would sugest:

Runic Lore(or some similarly tasteful name :D )

increases the sheilding of rune spells by 10/20/30%. This at max lvl would give RUNEVI about 1300 HP correct? Doesn't seem like a ton, but every bit helps! Also, guarding rune, i beleive 1500 hp? Would be slightly stronger in emergencies too.

or possibly, to go along with the original AAs idea of helping enchanter live:

Inate Rune
mitigation of a set amount of melee dmg. scaling up of course.

or even:

Rune Skin

Every melee strike against the caster gives a % chance to "proc" a small rune (stacks with others to ovoid overwrites) further lvls increase power and %chance.

You're missing the point. 25% damage reduction is a ton, and it's supposed to be a use for the pet. If you always charm don't buy this AA.

I assumed you were joking :( maybe not.... I mean, I dont understand what you guys are saying. It is the wimpiest pet. It does very little damage even with raid buffs. There is no AoE dmg raid target that wont kill it (unless it is one with different cones of AoEs and such and can be possitioned....if we as chanters have TIME to do that)

also, it can be possitioned to avoid ripostes, sure. But as enchanters, I dont feel i would have time to do this. I would rather throw one extra nuke that take the few extra hits and the extra life of the pet. I played a 66 mage on live, and that pet was important, maybe im just missing my old pet, and seeing this one as a gimp...


ok ok ok, here: How much HP does the ancient: guardian of Jayla have please? That would help. I know it cant be much at all. Also, if you could throw out a figure or two for dps that might also help with its usefullness.....

Honestly, as a somewhat expensive ability, I fail to see the usefullness of this from multiple points of veiw. the ONLY exception i could possibly see is in an easy exp group where you might get hit once or twice durring a pull, thats it.



P.S. and just as a last thought:"If you always charm don't buy this AA." anyone who doesn't charm should be slapped :mad:

People who like 25% avoidance won't be charming, it seems.

Thats not my arguement. Everyone would love 25% avoidance. Thats not what this aa gives. Honestly, when are you withing range of your pet? When will a mob not kill the pet in 1 and a half hits? When is the pet up on raids(dies SO fast!) I honestly cant see myself in an exp group standing beside my pet, so close to what we are fighting, that when i get agro, it can bitch slap me right away, so my pet can take 1 out of 4 hits....and then die right away.

Don't buy it then.

Some AAs are just not always useful. Take the warrior AA Resilience. It's not terribly useful to reduce melee damage for 10 seconds in exp groups, but it's pretty invaluable at the start of a CH chain.

25% avoidance, pet HP or not, is very useful on very hard-hitting mobs as a low-HP enchanter. I.e. on raids, particularly trash or summoning mobs where you're likely to get aggro.
