Hey there everyone. Man, the last time I played EQ was years ago. I think the last expansion I saw was Ykesha. My main game these days is World of Warcraft, but sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed by that game and it's nice to have another game world to kick around in.

I have to admit, though, as I was getting started yesterday I was thrown off a bit when my starting point for my Dark Elf Enchanter was Oggok and not Neriak. Is there any reasonably easy way for me to get to Neriak so I can kill some newbie things and do my quests for the newbie caster gear?

Nonetheless, I look forward to checking this game out once again. It certainly seems fun and interesting.

SoD is in many ways different than Live.
I would advise you to have a read through the books you got at the start, and Wiz's starting guide on that board.
 
and dont go to neriak, the mobs roaming the zone formerly known as Nektulos Forest hit for 100+ ;) Stay in your new newbie place and level there, also you should have quests for ur level at ur new guild in Oggok.

Hmm. I hailed a bunch of NPCs around the guild, but most of them were either trainers or spell vendors. I guess next chance I get I'll go back and just start talking to everyone I see then.

Just kinda sucks because the area outside of Oggok is pitch black and I have a hard time finding things to kill. But I guess that's the price of playing a Dark Elf.
 
Yeah, and read those lore books.
Don't look for freeport either, it's now a 50+ zone.
At lvl 10, I really advise you to go through the Main Quest. Read that letter that the last gave you, and follow the instructions.
