Graphics issues in first person, when the camera enters another player/myself

Hey guys,

I am having issues with a graphical problem and I thought someone might be able to help me out.

Whenever I am in first person view (which I prefer hands down) and the camera/my face enters into another PC/NPC's body the graphics seem to kind of fragment making what is kind of like a stained glass picture window of the colors on the clothing or armor that they are wearing, and it also occurs to me when I autoattack... When the animations of autoattack take my characters body parts into the screen, the graphics do the crazy fragmentation forcing me to fight in 3rd person.

Anyone know what causes this, or have any clues? Computer info below

Dual Core AMD 3800+ (yes, I have tried the optimization and setting the affinity)
eVGA GeForce 9800 GT (with the latest driver from nVidia's website, released Oct. 15)

I can post some screen shots or something if someone thinks that will help.

Thanks guys

If you've fixed the dual core issue than I'm betting this is the problem, it's too new for software that has not been updated in 4 years.

I'm having the same issue. I've fixed all my other problems and I've just started playing today. (10/30). But this graphical issue in first person is horrible and strains my eyes seeing all the textures.

AMD Athlon-64 Dual-Core 2.8
ASUS MB, 2GB RAM
EVGA 8800 GTX 768MB (Same drivers as OP)

Did the fixes, maybe it IS the drivers? I don't know, but I'm not willing to roll back drivers every time I want to play cuz I play too many other games at times.

If you do find a resolution to the problem, please post it. I don't want to have to quit because of this but it hurts my eyes! LoL. I just can't play classical EQ in 3rd person.

there are a few threads in the forum talking about video cards past the 7000 series. 8 and 9 series have bad compatibility with SoD, causing graphics issues in first person mode. however alot of people say its fine in 3rd person. i dont know, because i dont have either kind of card. but try checking the forum for other threads about this, it might help

Yeah, everything is fine in 3rd person. I just have to mouse wheel out a bit when I enter combat... it's not a deal breaker, but it sure is annoying to always have to do.. can't even kill a fruit bat without the screen exploding into a crazy stained glass window wanna be.

Got the same with a Core2duo & 8800GS. But it runs so well it's a fair deal to me compared to my 2800+/Ti4200/1.5gig :p
