Got my ozzfest tickets.

I am so happy I got my ozzfest tickets today, I can not wait, An entire day of metal in the morning and at night I get to see my favorites lordi, lamb of god , static x, and ozzy. I am surprised how fast they sold out though, it only took a few hours for venues to start selling out of tickets. I had to wait in line for my tickets for about an hour and a half.

Yes, but their is still a maximum occupancy for each venue and because it was free everyone had access to tickets. Being at work and technical difficulties ultimately screwed me out of tickets.

Yeah Pretty much if you were not waiting right away you did not get tickets. I was in the online line up for about an hour and a half waiting thinking I did not get any.

Pretty much within 2 hours of opening they were gone in some places.

only good band playing this year is behemoth.

I honestly did not care about most of the bands, but seeing Ozzy free and checking out new bands for free is never a bad thing. Apparently if you are employed you get penalized, but oh well!

the ratio of shitty bands to good bands is to much of a stretch.

4 good bands, 11 shitty bands

to bad sounds of the underground wont be free

That's how Ozzfest was in 2002 when I went. :-/ I had to sit through Andrew W.K. and other garbage to see Hatebreed and Meshuggah (both who only got to play for 20 minutes...WTF?!?!?). And THEN I had to sit through POD to see Rob Zombie (was looking forward to SOAD, but god they sucked live)...by the time Ozzy came out we watched maybe 20 minutes of his set and left. We were burned out.

Granted there were plenty of other crappy bands besides AWK and POD, but those were the two most traumatizing...

2002 lineup:

Ozzy Osbourne
System of a Down
Rob Zombie
POD
Drowning Pool
Adema
Black Label Society
Down
Hatebreed
Meshuggah
Soil
Flaw
3rd Strike
Pulse Ultra
Ill Nino
Andrew W.K.
Glassjaw
The Used
Sw1tched
Otep
Mushroomhead

I am really disappointed to hear people say SoaD sucks live. Back when I saw them in 1997 they were really good and prompted me to buy their CD. I have seen a few videos of their current live performances and they are sub par to say the least. They used to be so into it, but now it must be more about the money and them caring less. On a side note, Hatebreed is pretty solid and were the only "new" (new to me) band that I wanted to see at Ozzfest this year, but in my opinion it would have been worth the concert for Rob Zombie/Ozzy/and a bad SoaD.

I saw SoaD in summer '05 and thought they were pretty damn good and definitely into it. This was right after Mezmerize came out (I'm not a huge fan of their recent stuff) but they still played almost every song from Toxicity which was sweet.

How do you figure the ratio of shitty to good bands this year sucks, This is one of the best lineups I have seen at ozzfest in a long time. I mean every band on the main stage owns. Granted I only Know about half of second stage bands but behemoth and nile in one concert trumps any shitty bands that may be playing on the second stage. Besides the bad bands give me a chance to do a beer run to my car.

If you guys promise not to spill the secret I will tell you a surefire way to get all the vodka in that you could ever want.

You know how you have to only bring in sealed water containers right. Well what you do is take a pin and poke a hole in whatever size container you want to bring. Let all the water drain out of it. Now you take a syringe and inject your liquor of choice into the bottle until it is full to the point it had water in it. Next you take a seal the hole you made with a small dab of hot glue or some other sealer and finally file off the excess glue so it does not stick up.

Viola you have your sealed "water" bottle. Now you do not need to pay 8 dollars for watered down beer.
I keep it in the car in a cooler until at night because you are allowed to go out and get things from your car where I go. Beware though, you have to remove and throw the caps away usually.

Granted this only works well for those who can do and like straight vodka shots. I also recommend not drinking until after the sun sets, or you will get seriously sick. Although I live in Arizona where the sun can be deadly as it is during that time of the year.

BTW Spiritplx, where do you live, Have you checked the local radio station for tickets, My local station actually has some they give away so yours may have some as well.

Also monster still has tickets to give out if you can find the packs, I know because I am a pretty heavy monster drinker.

I live in Kansas City and will check the local stations. Do you have an extra code you aren't going to use from a Monster pack? :keke:

Also, most events nowadays do not let you take in ANY filled containers because of this reason. Very unfortunate for people like me who just drink water (and for...everyone else too!)

i've seen better lineups, and i've seen shittier line ups.

for free ornot :toot:

If I hadn't seen Ozzy three times previously, I would go just to see him for free. That is well worth it right there. Can always throw shit at the bad bands. Or, bottles of vodka.

I was just wondering what bands you did not like, it is the death metal bands? I am mainly going to the main stage and a few bands of the second stage and to see some of the ones I have never listened to on the second stage.

Shit, I have seen what happens if you throw something on stage while a metal band is playing. I saw a poor kid do that once, not a pretty sight.
I guess everyones preference in music varies, I want to see Lordi the most though.

Ahh, In Arizona because of the heat they can not stop you from taking water in with you. I take in at least a gallon of water for myself and keep a second gallon in the car to get when the first runs out. I do not usually drink until after dark if I even drink, I usually do not because of the heat as well. Last year when I was at ozzfest It was ridiculously hot, I think it was a high of like 115 or something and I forgot my sunscreen. (very very painful mistake that will never ever happen again) I would expect it to be just as bad this year as it is in the hottest part of the year.

The whole vodka in a bottle is something a friend of mine came up with after being made to chug an entire water bottle of vodka that he had already broken the seal on to pour the vodka in.

BTW it is always a funny thing to see someone TRY to drink an entire 20 oz bottle of vodka at once.

nile, behemoth, ozzy, and 3 inches of blood are the only ones who would really be worth seeing.

i like technical/death metal.

some of the others have myspace music pages or just music pages.

"in this moment" is like a horribly influenced version of lacuna coil. paris hilton can sing better than this chick :/
and the guitar players obviously cant move pass the generic "nu metal" notes.

ChthoniC is some black metal band from korea who obviously loves king diamond and dimmu borgir. they're not bad. only thing is they sound way WAY to much like dimmu borgir. not horrible tho. :toot:

"CircusDiablo"....jesus christ, why?

"the showdown" http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=7804777 i almost thought their cover of "wayward son" was a joke. sure, like, 2 of you are hot. but for fuck's sake. STOP MAKING MUSIC.

"hatebreed" is another one of those generic nu metal bands where all their songs sound exactly the same. learn how to solo you fuckers !

anyways. theres my 2 cents on just a few bands. im picky. i like originality, solos, technical shit and nothing were i could probably play better then the person im listening to.

of course, i dont care what other people listen to <3 this is just the reason why i rejected a ticket to a free show

its the same thing if someone gave me free tickets to a brittney spear's show. its free, but i dont fucking care :d

Hatebreed live blows away most bands I've ever seen. Those guys aren't some bullshit nu metal band. They've been around quite a while as a working hardcore band. Granted I don't like everything they do, but they can't really be lumped in with nu metal. I dig them...but they do start to sound the same after a while.

As for soloing...bleh...keep the wanking to a minimum and give me crushing riffs any day unless it's Morbid Angel or someone. Trey can solo like a mofo. That black metal shit where the dudes try to be King Diamond and Mercyful Fate goes too far...it ends up sounding like Nintendo music on some old Konami game...
