One day we may grow up as a country and learn to play well with others instead of just kicking other peoples toys around in the sandbox, but I doubt it.

Pesonally I enjoy a good natured insult amoung friends. My RL friends and I will bash each other's races/religions/countries or origin all the time (in each others' presence). However, bashing those not present to slam us back is generally off limits.
I always avoid such jokes if anyone is nearby who will take the particular joke seriously. I'm not sure which is worse, having an ignorent ass overhear a joke and agree with in seriously, or having a stranger not realize its a joke and get pissed off.
On the internet you are not surrounded by just friends who know you. You are also surrounded by hundreds of strangers, some of whom are too ignorant to speak of such things wihtout being complete A-holes, and others who will be very offended because they dont know if you are joking or not.
Certain things are acceptable amoungst friends, but completely unnacceptable in public. Racial/religious/national jokes all fall into this category.

I think all you jackasses speaking against america should move to france, grow a cheesy moustache and put on a beret to celebrate your open homosexuality. If you don't like us then get the fuck out bitches... I have no problems saying that at all....
I've been to other countries and seen firsthand how desolate a 3rd world shithole can be. I found poverty, at the level in the phillipines, begets deformed humans walking around. People are so fucking poor there that becaue of being malnourished and diseased many of them (certainly not most) are just disfigured at birth. In Thailand damn near every woman sells their body for sex and many of the men prostitute themselves as typical gay whores or "ladyboys." In the middle east you see these fat shieks walking around with groups of people with shieks pulling out wads of cash 6 inches thick or more when a vast portion of the population there is as poor as dirt, if the can even afford dirt... The list goes on and on.
I used to think the U.S. was just a filthy, corrupt overbearing country myself. I've seen just how fucked up life really can be. Now that I"m back here, and have been for almost 10 years, I still look around and feel thankful to be a part of such a great country. As terrible as we are we still have one of the highest standards of living in the world.
If you haven't witnessed other countries that are absolute corrupt shitholes then I don't think you have truly earned the right to talk shit about the good ole U.S.A. We're far from perfect but most of the people in shithole countries would love to trade shoes with us so they would have the opportunity just to work and actually pay for food and water and shelter that so many here are too fucking lazy to do...
