Getting a Key for Shrouded Isle

aside from "get someone to pick the lock"

how do people usually go about getting a key from the Lord of the Estate? if it's a 3 day spawn, i don't know if people are timing it and "locking down" the spawn. Or if people just poke their head in and hope one day they get lucky? Or make an alt and level for 3 days until it spawns?

Several quests depend upon items in the basement, or nice items seem to drop down there.

Just FYI... this particular key is also droppable, so you may be able to buy one if someone's willing to part with it.

Yeah, the spawn time of the LOTE is pretty slow. I made it a habit of trying it out every once in a while, but eventually forgot it.

Until I rolled up an alt, that is. I had my alt in SI collecting xp rings from the nobles, when I rounded the corner and BAM, there he was! I quickly hopped off, logged my main, bummed a SoW, and made tracks to SI. He was a greenie by then, so it was fairly easy, but he did have an unusual amount of HP.

So I guess maybe you just need to get lucky for the drop. I had honestly forgotten about it until I almost backed into the LOTE. It helps if you check during the day (RL day, that is) because if he spawns at night, the closest group is gonna certainly jump on him. Also, if you're in a guild, you might get one of your guildies to come let you into the basement. Just watch for traps...
