Does Gert himself spawn to talk to you? As far as I rememeber its a long respawn on that part, but if Gert is up so should the rest when you get "well hidden".
(Dont recall timer on respawn, but it was pretty long and Gert has to spawn to trigger the rest.)

I recall my wiz sat at zone line behind gert wile a guildie triggered the quest (she had flag on her too but not in group) and due to that the victim ran away before my guildie even saw him. Could this have been the case? Someone else was too close I mean.
(I had lots of trouble on wiz with that quest, had to get GM help like 3 times at same part as you are on atm plus stuff after. will stop shitting up your thread now

Watch carefully for the emotes! If you dont go into the hiding spot fast enough the guy will spot you and go away. Then you have to wait for Gertund to repop!
