Freeport Guards

Are Freeport guards a good way to earn Newport rep, or are bandit heads better overall?

Also, what is the earliest level possible for a bard to start kiting Freeport guards?

Freeport guards no longer give newport faction. They're now Silver Crown faction. So bandit heads are by far better. =P

From memory, I think I started kiting them with my bard around lvl 45 (and they conned yellow). It's been a while, but pretty sure it was around then.

The wiki has failed me! I will have to edit the page to reflect that information. So are bandit heads the undisputed best way to gain Newport rep? It seems a bit silly but outdoor bandits are much easier to farm than enchanter mobs in paw or crazy high level orcs in everchill.

I am not 100% positive, but I think bandit heads will cap out on faction before ally.

Well, I went from kindly to ally purely thanks to bandit heads. From what others told me when I asked the question in game, there is no cap at the moment.

Everchill orc ears yield tokens which are worth more faction than the bandit heads. But of course, they drop from a much more difficult area as well. As to which is better, I think that will depend on your situation. If you can't get a good group to spend time in everchill, bandits would certainly be a more feasible way to go. If you prefer to spend your time in xp groups than running around killing (presumably green) bandits, everchill is a better way to go (and the way the majority of higher level folks try to do it afaik). I can't comment on how bandit heads differ from paw heads.

bandit = 2 bounty tokens,
paw heds = 1 major
orc ear = 1 greater or w/e

might be reversed but thats the basic idea

Similarly, I went from dubious with my necro to ally with bandit heads. I did most of the head collection during downtime from nearby exp mobs so it wasn't time spent only slaughtering greenies.
