focus effects and bardsongs

does anyone know for sure if focus effects like extended range, increased damage, and extended duration that affect spells can also affect bard songs?

Probably not, and I am pretty sure because when you cast spells, the item with the focus effect gives a message (i.e. Your Emerald Cloak shimmers briefly). But when you use a song there is no message.
