first and foremost, Please could you add Innate Critical hits for Rangers using bows. This is and always has been a standard feature for rangers on live, and most probably overlooked here by accident.
Ok onto secondary but still very important issues.
please dont bite my head off, I tried to do the tests as fairly as possible and these are the results I got from them, so im hoping some of the devs or Wiz can shed some light on them.
I've been increasingly concerned with my dps as i've been leveling up and decided i'd try some tests. I asked a 60 beastlord to take part using his pet.
These were the test circumstances.
level 60 pet with only Yekans Quickening (60 percent haste). No other buffs at all.
Me, level 60 ranger, with self proc (70dd+stun), and shard of frost, shard of flame, beastlord buffs including atk, str and dex and alacrity bringing my haste to a total of 56 percent.
Pulling one kobold after another and going head to head with the pet, I did not manage to get xp from a single kobold. Now I realise the pet has the added advantage of 4 percent extra haste and attacking the kobold from behind but surely my procs (which happen very very frequently) and my melee should more than make up for this, if i was doing a reasonable amount of melee dps in the first place.
So to test if the pet was only able to KS because it was hitting at the back and more likely to get higher hits, I began to root the kobolds and asked the beastlord to stay close enough to maintain full aggro with the pet on the same side as the beastlord and I behind the kobold. To my amazement, the pet still out damaged me. Infact the only way I could get xp was to be behind the kobolds and be in aggressive style.
This really doesn't seem right, we know a ranger should be the highest non-spell damage dealer with his bow, but he should at least also be competent with melee damage too shouldnt he? At the moment it seems as though bow damage is broken/not high at all and melee damage is no better either unless you happen to be a high end ranger with high end loot and lots of AA's. Surely, I shouldn't have to have high end loot, and lots of AA's just to be able to compete with a pet that doesn't even quad according to his owner.
Unfortunately I dont have a damage parser currently so Im not able to report accurate figures but I have no hesitation in saying that I think something is quite wrong. If this is how you intended ranger melee to be here, then perhaps we can be boosted in another area. Perhaps upon reaching level 60, every ranger automatically fires 2 arrows instead of 1, or maybe has a chance to do a crippling strike (somewhat similar to rogue throwing weapons deadly strike) which maybe triples or quadruples that one hits damage.
