Few Questions about SoD

Hi, i played Game LIVE for about close to 3 years on Errosili Mar and considering to play on SoD, from what ive heard and read it seems to be a great expirience for players.

I have read the rules and server features just had a few questions to ask.

It says you get XP faster then then the original Game Live server, could anyone give a pct% number? not like it matters just very curious.

Are mob loot/spell drops enhanced at all?

I see you can lvl to 65 which is great. Which expansion is the furtherst one can explore? LDoN im guessing but perhaps further?

I tried to read as much information that i could find before posting this. I hope i dont upset anyone, im just curious to know. I have free time during the day and im looking to play a game again, and why not Game.

Cool i found the Starter Info page, i got me really excited but did not touch on these questions. IM trying not to be a drag and ask stupid questions =)

1- Noticeably Faster.

2- Loot is custom, spells are different (well some same some different)

3- It's not like that. This isnt' The Game as you knew it. Some zones are used from different expansions, in different areas. The world construction out of these zones is completely different from what you're used to. You sould make sure you have all zone files from the original game through LDON, though.

The best thing is just to jump in. Don't come with expectations for mob a loot b quest c or map d (or even class defining ability e!) from Live. It's a whole new world, with new people, new content, and a new approach.

If you think of the game engine as the DnD rulebook, then Live and SoD are both different GM's worlds based on the rulebook.

Hehe, yeah, very different world that they've put together. My first week, I zoned from Toxx Forest into Kerra Ridge, thinking I'd go hunt some Kerrans.... I was very surprised to find I was in what I thought of as Unrest. One example of how zones are moved around a bit here.

Few more questions, Also i keep dieing i have no clue how to navigate these maps =p. i miss field of bone

Is there a central meeting point in the game? Is there anyway to port around without assistance of druid/wizzy?

Passed couple days ive given up because for some reason i cant keep alive, perhaps im rusty? lvls 1-10 used to take me 2 hours on live server anyway, if these could be answerd =0 thanks

I think there are more mobs in newbie areas here, for one thing. You have to actually pull and be aware of your surroundings. I died quite a few times, too, at first. At least my Paladin did, not so much my Druid.

Pathing is different, too - more mobs, and paths cross a lot more.

No central meeting point, that I have found. The next best thing is OOC - it's server-wide here, and the Beginner's guild. But, no PoK, and no critical mass of players that would make a place like Greater Faydark or North Newport a gathering place, as on Live.

Don't worry, you'll get less rusty as time goes on, and more used to the peculiarities of SoD.

The maps were removed from the patcher... you must delete your maps folder from your game directory and download the proper maps.  That have all the cortrect zone information.

No central meeting point.  A lot of people do congregate in the Cesspool, the open sewer of Humanity.  They call it Newport.

The portal system exists.  In seven zones, Sundered Mountains, Lake Starfall, Everforst, Cauldron of Dawn, Darkwoods, Whisperling Forest, and somewhere else not important enough to remember, there is a portal you activate iby simplely stepping inside it.  At each of these locvations is a small stone on the ground.  If you have that stone in your ammo slot when you port, you go to that location.  if you have no stone equipped, you go to Jaystown, which others call Athica.  It is a city of religious cultists... for that reason you can only enter by portal, you cannot leave, a one way door.  Well, you CAN walk out...  There is another portal, outbound only, in the Pocket Plane of Donation Demigods.  It also has all the portal stones.

Notice you have to have the stone before you can port to there, and you can get the stone by picking it up from there.  Which means you have to travel there on foot one time to get the stone the first time.  Well, you can bypass that with a bit of coin.  Several, but not all, of the portals have enterprising individuals looking to part a fool from his money.  You can buy the stones there if you are in a hurry.  Keep in mind, not all stones are created equal, and some locations cost a bit more.

Several of the cities have portal necks.  If you get them to like you enough, they will give you a necklace that will virtually instantly teleport you, their favorite son, to their doors.

SOme classes solo better than others, and no all newbie zones are created equally.  Some are harder than others but give more xp.  On the other place, you had extremely easy areas like the other Cesspool that also had a 40% xp modifer.  In SoD, the best newbie zones have 10% (maybe stinger's is 15%), so the newbie process is a bit longer.  Cesspool has a negative xp modifier.
