Feign Death / Assistance Penalty

I have done searches on the forums, maybe I didn't look hard enough, but rather surprised that there aren't more complaints about getting an assistance penalty when you feign death. I don't think this is to be intended, because if it is, that'd be absurd. Monks primary role are to pull, and in a well-rounded group, chain pulls would be preferable. A monk may have aggro and have to FD to lose it while the group kills it so he has a free chance to pull constantly. Unfortunately if this is performed, the group gets about 20% exp than it should, due to assistance penalty. Also when solo'ing, even if a monk does all the damage to the mob in two seperate combat sequences (via feign death and resetting aggro), then assistance penalty is once again initiated. I want to know if this issue is going to be or already is under progress, or if it is an intended feature.

That would be a ridiculous trade off, sacrifice the monk's role in the entire game to avoid someone from leveling faster? Seriously?

On the note of FDing, something's up with the failure rate for monks. It seems like Jedz dies 1/10 FD's because of failures.

Feign death only gives the penalty if someone else who is not in your group engages the mob, or if you're soloing and do damage in multiple encounters without letting it regenerate to full.

If you're in a group and grab aggro from the tank and use feign death to give the aggro back to the tank you don't lose any experience. Just like if you're pulling a mob you can feign and let someone in the group tag from you, you can stay on the ground the entire fight feigned and you don't lose experience.

I wouldn't have posted this without considerable thought. I consisently killed a mob to 75% and feigned, stood back up and continued to kill it as a test. I did it both still having aggro and also letting it reset. Same for 50% and 25%, with about every 4 in 5 engages resulting in experience loss. So I'm sorry to say that your post is not fully truthful.

Yep, if someone does the majority of damage to the mob and then FD's before it dies, the group gets assistance penalty regardless of whether or not someone else hits it. I've also found out while kiting orcs that if the orc stops and casts on someone else who's there (when I'm not grouped) I get an assistance penalty.

The way that i avoid this, to the best of my ability, is by feigning earlier in the fight so you wont pull later and have to Fd. So you wont end up getting the penalty.

I intend to fix groups getting penalty because someone in the group who did majority damage FDed.

That is great news, it's sad that sometimes you end up seeing the monk in youor group as some form of hidden, undeserved xp debt. ;)
