Faction Items and your new toons = AWESOME for you!

Hey everyone! I want to share this because I am still very excited about Giant/Dragon faction items and the wonderful stats/benefits they are to new toons!

One of the best ways to get a fresh level 65 good starting gear (geared up for raiding and more) is to do Treasure maps!

For the first time last night I achieved with my Rogue, Ally with the Giants. I had 5 items which were dropped from Dragons in DHK and in WW. Once you achieve Ally, you can talk to the King and he tells you that anything you rip from the dead corpse of a dragon he may be able to 'bless' it or whatever, which gives it boosts in stats.

Some of you already know this, but I want to share with anyone and everyone else who is new or didn't know of this.

The stat upgrades are spectacular and well worth the effort to achieve allied status.

Please take time (currently) to check out some of the faction based items on my Rogue, Hymlik.

Look at the items that have [Faction Bound] at the top. Right now the slots are, Range, Neck, Shoulders and Wrist slot.

The neck piece is especially nice for a T3 item. :)

Again, I am really excited about this finding and wanted to share. Good luck and happy hunting!

Aug your gear it's another super easy way to get better survivability at low tiers. Resist augs preferably. If you're going to raid seriously, go heavy on the fire resists.

What did you find to be the most efficient way to faction your giant faction outside of greater scales from DHK? With my guys I did mostly EW orcs and a few lesser scale turn ins (plus whatever you get from the easy quests with the giants.)

Unfortunately I am giving up what is truly a one man farm so to speak. Great Divide, lesser dragons scales. There is a nice loop you can do in there to work your way around and it's endless, meaning if you kill at a certain rate, the spawns are up and you just move to the next, next and so on.

From MAX indifferent, 1 lesser scale will get you Amiable. 180 or 200 later, you will be Allied. It was weeks of farming for me. Little bits here and there to add up to that much. Plus the lucky NDHK greater scale....but I think I got only 3 or 5 of them total. The Wyrms in GD have a decent amount of HP for thier con, but with toons that have good gear (T5 to T9) you blow through them pretty quick.

I've yet to kill Giants for Dragon faction. I'd like to do it for the experience. I heard farming giants is easier.

I wonder if clearing GD tunnels vs. the EQ orc fort is better.

Be aware that your (giant) faction bound gear will poof on you in no time if you start hunting giants. And the true art of factioning in the North is to be ally with giants and thurgadin while being amianle to dragons! :p (Yes this is possible, I did that myself back in the day!)

I always did my factioning in east DHK - way easier than north and they still drop greater scales. The cave of wyverns by the port in in west wastes also drops greater scales iirc. Waaay faster than GD

40 greaters or 200 lesser scales iirc from indifferent for giant ally

Sorry, I must be missing something, but what does Dragon/ Giant faction items have to do with Treasure maps?

Bleh, you called me out. I was hoping people would miss that. It's an incomplete thought. TMAPS and these items are wonderful for beginning level 65s. Grinding faction takes a effort, but the pay off if you don't have time for raiding is worth it.

Thanks Zengo....I should have completed that a while back.

Nwaij: WHAT!!!!??? That is so awesome! I've not looked in to it, but it must have taken you ....some time to do this.

Breigon: Yes, thanks! :)

Daffie: I find GD tunnels easier. And, correct me if I am wrong, 1 lesser scale is more faction than 1 orc tooth. I thought 1 lesser scale is worth 5 orc teeth, and 1 greater scale is worth 5 lesser scales, iirc.
