Extremely slow run speed

I recently started playing SoD a couple days ago and I made a bard. Ive run into a very vexxing gameplay issue, my run speed and turn speed are extremely low. even when I have Selos on and am runnins at full speed creatures are still wailing on me from behind. I was hoping someone could help me with my problem. The computer im using is about two months old is a vista laptop and Im not very well versed in the navigation of pc problem solving so step by step instructions would be well appreciated. any help would be appreciated
 
Just a stab, but hit ctrl+R and make sure you're running instead of walking. Don't know beyond that.
 
Did this problem just start out of nowhere, or did it always exist? Like Jules says above, check your walk/run hotkey.
 
I have this problem occasionally when my laptop gets too hot. I think the laptop automatically knocks down the processor or video speed to try to cool it off. Putting a small external fan blowing across the laptop to keep it cooler solved the problem for me.
 
Think that's speedstep technology gunder, can be disabled in the bios I believe.
 
My run has been on the whole time and the problem has been happening since Ive been playing, I dont think my laptop is overheating either its got a pretty good exhaust. I saw some posts with similar problems but I didnt gather much in the way of solutions from them
 
Like Gunder, I also get this when my laptop overheats, propping the back of the laptop up solved it for me.
