Being new to SoD the one thing you want to keep in mind is that SoD and EQ are completely different, with the exception of client side similarities that can't be altered.
To answer your question from my player's perspecive, I think that xp goes much faster here than on live for a variety of reasons. There are group bonuses, zone modifier bonuses, as well as good amounts of xp that can be gained through level appropriate quests.

to my experience up to the mid lvl 50's exp goes faster than live, I will say 58+ is alot slower than live feels just about as if you were going through lvl 65-70 in live to give you an idea. Also AA's start fast but slow down drasticly. Kinda like lvl 60 in live AA will jump, while at 65 was half of what was at lvl 60 but still faster than 61-64... well here don't spect to get ultra fast AA's at lvl 60 like on live either.
